Leader Mindfulness And Employee Performance: A Sequential Mediation Model Of Lmx Quality, Interpersonal Justice, And Employee Stress, Jochen Reb, Sankalp Chaturvedi, Jayanth Narayanan, Ravi S. Kudesia

Research Collection Lee Kong Chian School Of Business

In the present research, we examine the relation between leader mindfulness and employee performance through the lenses of organizational justice and leader-member relations. We hypothesize that employees of more mindful leaders view their relations as being of higher leader-member exchange (LMX) quality. We further hypothesize two mediating mechanisms of this relation: increased interpersonal justice and reduced employee stress. In other words, we posit that employees of more mindful leaders feel treated with greater respect and experience less stress. Finally, we predict that LMX quality serves as a mediator linking leader mindfulness to employee performance—defined in terms of both in-role and …

Uber’S Strategy Of Disruptive Innovation: The Implications Of Negative Press, Margaret M. Taylor Jun 2019

Uber’S Strategy Of Disruptive Innovation: The Implications Of Negative Press, Margaret M. Taylor

Honors Projects

In the last ten years of Uber’s existence the company has become a household name. Through their journey in becoming so well-known, they have had both positive and negative press that has affected how the world has seen them. While they have spent the last ten years revitalizing the taxi and limousine service industry, they have also consistently dealt with the changing perception of the public. This report focuses on the social actor approach, …

The Compliance Process, Veronica Root

Faculty Scholarship

Even as regulators and prosecutors proclaim the importance of effective compliance programs, failures persist. Organizations fail to ensure that they and their agents comply with legal and regulatory requirements, industry practices, and their own internal policies and norms. From the companies that provide our news, to the financial institutions that serve as our bankers, to the corporations that make our cars, compliance programs fail to prevent misconduct each and every day. The causes of these compliance failures are multifaceted and include general enforcement deficiencies, difficulties associated with overseeing compliance programs within complex organizations, and failures to establish a culture of …

Core Competencies, Core Values And Core Compromises, Jeffrey Keisler, Edward Romar

Jeffrey Keisler

To achieve success businesses enunciate values and mission, secure resources, develop capabilities, and execute strategies.  For firms to succeed, managers must make decision about what should remain, be abandoned and acquired or developed?  In the decision-making process, management often overlooks, compromises, neglects, and dismisses the firm’s history, unique industry position, and fundamental strengths in a single-minded focus on the future.  In this paper we discuss one aspect of strategy that is neglected in the literature.  Most of the literature focuses on strategy and competencies, with little focus on or awareness of its opposite, the compromises management makes as they look …
