Assessing The Impacts Of Crowdsourcing In Logistics And Supply Chain Operations, Ha Hai Ta
Assessing The Impacts Of Crowdsourcing In Logistics And Supply Chain Operations, Ha Hai Ta
Graduate Theses and Dissertations
Crowdsourcing models, whereby firms start to delegate supply chain operations activities to a mass of actors in the marketplace, have grown drastically in recent years. 85% of the top global brands have reported to use crowdsourcing in the last ten year with top names such as Procter & Gamble, Unilever, and Nestle. These emergent business models, however, have remained unexplored in extant SCM literature. Drawing on various theoretical underpinnings, this dissertation aims to investigate and develop a holistic understanding of the importance and impacts of crowdsourcing in SCM from multiple perspectives. Three individual studies implementing a range of methodological approaches …

Evaluating Feasibility Of Blockchain Application For Dscsa Compliance, Tracie Scott, Armand L. Post, Johnny Quick, Sohail Rafiqi
SMU Data Science Review
Abstract. We evaluated the feasibility of using a blockchain technology to create a traceability solution for pharmaceutical drugs that would promote compliance with recent legislation. Counterfeit and other illegitimate pharmaceutical drugs threaten patient safety, drug efficacy, and patient trust. The purpose of the Drug Supply Chain Security Act (DSCSA) is to greatly reduce distribution of illegitimate drugs by requiring all pharmaceuticals to be serialized and traceable from the manufacturer through the supply chain to the dispenser. A software application to serialize and track pharmaceuticals must overcome numerous obstacles. In particular, the solution must provide a high degree of trust while …

Procurement Strategies In Nigerian Ceramics Manufacturing, Emmanuel Korede Alege
Procurement Strategies In Nigerian Ceramics Manufacturing, Emmanuel Korede Alege
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
Some developing nations struggle with a diminishing manufacturing output market share because of a lack of appropriate procurement strategies. The purpose of this single case study was to explore the procurement strategies that managers successfully developed and deployed to improve company performance. The strategic alignment model was the conceptual framework for the study. Data were collected through semistructured interviews of 6 members of a Nigerian ceramics manufacturing company, as well as from a review of publicly available documents related to the performance of the company. A thematic analysis of the data was conducted to identify codes, extract subthemes and themes …
Supply Chain Management Strategies In The Manufacturing Industry, Marcia S. Falks
Supply Chain Management Strategies In The Manufacturing Industry, Marcia S. Falks
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
Inefficient supply chains result in unsold inventory and unfilled customer orders, posing a significant risk to company profitability and consumer satisfaction. The purpose of this single case study was to explore strategies supply chain managers in the manufacturing industry used to match the level of unsold inventory in the supply chain with customer demand consistently. Porter's value chain provided the conceptual framework for the study. A sample of 5 experienced supply chain managers from a global manufacturing company headquartered in the midwestern United States participated in semistructured interviews. Each participant provided company supply chain documentation for triangulation. Data analysis followed …
Strategies For Adopting Additive Manufacturing Technology Into Business Models, Robert Martens
Strategies For Adopting Additive Manufacturing Technology Into Business Models, Robert Martens
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
Additive manufacturing (AM), also called 3-dimensional printing (3DP), emerged as a disruptive technology affecting multiple organizations' business models and supply chains and endangering incumbents' financial health, or even rendering them obsolete. The world market for products created by AM has increased more than 25% year over year. Using Christensen's theory of disruptive innovation as a conceptual framework, the purpose of this multiple case study was to explore the successful strategies that 4 individual managers, 1 at each of 4 different light and high-tech manufacturing companies in the Netherlands, used to adopt AM technology into their business models. Participant firms originated …

International Journal of Aviation, Aeronautics, and Aerospace
Radio Frequency Identification, or RFID, has been gaining momentum within the aviation industry for improving efficiencies in the supply chain. RFID technology is not new, with many manufacturers outside of aviation being more responsive as early adopters to the technology. Currently, many of the full-scale implementation organizations from late adopters, have strategically integrated RFID technology into the manufacturing supply chain to tag parts and for airports/airlines to track baggage and passengers throughout their airport journey. Literature remains rather sparse in the implementation and success factors within the aviation supply chain as a number of businesses have kept much of the …
