The focus of this thesis is on the evolution of socially responsible business practices (SRBPs); the historical progression of commercial philanthropy; the current market trends that drive corporate actions; and the projected rise of social responsibility integration within organizational cultures. The purpose of this paper is to provide evidence for how SRBPs contribute to, rather than detract from, the strength and success of American consumer goods companies because of their strategic integration in organizational cultures. The report examines the types of occupations Lincoln area employers are searching for and hiring, and the types of difficulties employers face when hiring. Every year for Business Week, the Huntsman School Business Council, a group of student leaders representing all business students, puts together a service project to benefit the community. This year, they elected to serve the Huntsman Cancer Institute. In collaboration with representatives of HCI, they decided to undertake three projects: create fleece blankets, decorate composition books into journals, and write letters of encouragement.

An Inquiry Into The Aviation Management Education Paradigm Shift, Matthew P. Earnhardt, Jason M. Newcomer, Daryl V. Watkins, James W. Marion

International Journal of Aviation, Aeronautics, and Aerospace

Working adults with four-year degrees from accredited colleges or universities earn, on average, almost three times more than individuals without a degree. This pay gap led Newcomer and his colleagues to study attitudes of aviation and aerospace managers towards education. That study found that managers valued education in new hires, even though they did not deem it critical to their own positions. That finding indicated a potential paradigm shift towards the perceived value of education in the industry.

In the current qualitative, phenomenological research, we interviewed 14 managers from various capacities within the aviation and aerospace industries to determine the …

In November 2014, CCSI and the Institute for Human Rights and Business co-convened a colloquium on policy, law, contracts, and sustainable development, with a particular focus on large-scale investments in the extractive industries and the agriculture sector. The colloquium provided an opportunity for practitioners to share information on their related work, as well as to reflect on current practices and remaining gaps regarding efforts to embed sustainability and human rights into large-scale deals. This outcome document provides a summary of the discussion, while its annex includes information on participants’ relevant programs, initiatives, and tools.

Northeast Ohio was not immune to this downturn and experienced major declines in its population base and tax revenue streams. How could the area recover? This work looks at the post-manufacturing business climate in Northeast Ohio whose major cities, Cleveland, Akron, and Youngstown, were faced with re-inventing themselves and their industrial bases.
