The Effects Of Risk Management Program Implementation On Worker Safety Knowledge, John C. Donnelly
The Effects Of Risk Management Program Implementation On Worker Safety Knowledge, John C. Donnelly
Community & Environmental Health Theses & Dissertations
This study examined the effect of the implementation of a risk management program tool on worker safety knowledge in a composite building material fabrication facility whose workers suffered from an increasingly high injury (incidence) rate in recent years. Risk assessment codes (RACs) and job safety analyses (JSAs) were the primary tools used to introduce workers to the concept of risk. Because employee involvement is a crucial element in JSA development. employee input was frequently solicited throughout JSA development.
The study instrument consisted of a pre-test and post-test survey, to which an experimental and control group were subjected. The instrument was …
Non-United States Firms' Exchange Rate Exposure And The Pricing Of Exchange Rate Risk In Foreign Stock Markets, Patricia Hill Hamlin Hall
Non-United States Firms' Exchange Rate Exposure And The Pricing Of Exchange Rate Risk In Foreign Stock Markets, Patricia Hill Hamlin Hall
Theses and Dissertations in Business Administration
This two part dissertation is an in depth study of the measurement of foreign currency economic exposure faced by foreign firms and whether or not this exposure is associated with significant risk premia within these firms' national equity markets. Firms from four foreign countries; Germany, the United Kingdom, Japan and Canada are classified as purely domestic firms, exporters with low (20%-39%) percentages of foreign sales to total sales, exporters with high (over 40%) percentages of foreign sales to total sales, or multinational corporations.
Essay I focuses on the economic exposure of these non-US firms. Foreign exchange rate volatility can impact …
Values In Transition: The Case Of Modern Mexico, Howard Stanley Hart Iii
Values In Transition: The Case Of Modern Mexico, Howard Stanley Hart Iii
Theses and Dissertations in Business Administration
The purpose of this dissertation is to explore the changes in the cultural values of individuals from one traditional society who have been exposed to socialization agents generated by a more modern, developed society. The country chosen for this study was Mexico. Mexico has recently experienced an increase in U.S. business, education, and media-based activities, partially as a result of NAFTA. It seems reasonable to expect that Mexicans may be shifting their individual values and perhaps modifying their consumption-related behavior as a consequence of this increase in cultural contact. Given that Mexico has individuals representing the very rich, the middle-class, …
New Paradigms For Evaluating Performance And Performance Persistency Of Domestic And Globally Diversified Portfolios, Larry Joseph Prather
New Paradigms For Evaluating Performance And Performance Persistency Of Domestic And Globally Diversified Portfolios, Larry Joseph Prather
Theses and Dissertations in Business Administration
This manuscript reexamines performance evaluation of managed portfolios. Past measures of portfolio evaluation such as the Sharpe, Treynor, and Jensen measures are subject either to the inability to rank performance based on statistical significance, or are dependent on both a single factor CAPM return generating process and the selected market portfolio. Recent studies show performance ranking is sensitive to the selection of the market proxy when the security market line is used to evaluate performance. Additionally, CAPM based measures that appeared to work well in the 1960's no longer appear to function effectively. Many anomalies to CAPM have been documented …
The Relationship Between Machiavellianism, Self-Monitoring, And Adaptiveness To The Performance Of Real Estate Sales Professionals, Dianne Broman Eppler
The Relationship Between Machiavellianism, Self-Monitoring, And Adaptiveness To The Performance Of Real Estate Sales Professionals, Dianne Broman Eppler
Theses and Dissertations in Business Administration
The focus of sales management is on insuring the success of the corporation by selling its goods or services. The most significant impact on the firm's success is the ability of the sales force to perform. Research to determine what makes a successful salesperson is extensive; however, the results are inconsistent and disappointing. In light of the significant financial impact the sales force has on the firm, additional research that identifies determinants of sales success is necessary.
The purpose of this dissertation was to examine the relationships between personal characteristics and sales performance. Specifically, Machiavellianism, self-monitoring, and adaptiveness were hypothesized …
Understanding Collaborative Writing Of Technical Proposals With A Process/Product Model, Frank Joseph Greco
Understanding Collaborative Writing Of Technical Proposals With A Process/Product Model, Frank Joseph Greco
Engineering Management & Systems Engineering Theses & Dissertations
Group work creates concerns with respect to performance, collaboration, and conflict management. Writing technical proposals creates appropriate settings for gaining insight into work group efficiencies and project conflict. The research involved different work groups preparing responses to Federal Government solicitations. A proposed Process/Product model was applied to create a new framework and perception of the technical proposal development effort. There exists a rich dialectic between the forces of Process, (how the effort is accomplished), and, Product, (what the effort will produce.) The investigation attempted to learn if the P/P model provides explanations for project conflict during technical collaborative writing.
The …
Characteristics, Perceived Skills And Leadership Styles Of Female Executives In The Senior Executive Service, Ahmad Mashayekh
Characteristics, Perceived Skills And Leadership Styles Of Female Executives In The Senior Executive Service, Ahmad Mashayekh
Theses and Dissertations in Urban Services - Urban Management
Recent studies have expressed considerable interest in the representation of women in the upper-level management in the federal government. Yet, very little is known about the characteristics and attributes of women in the executive level of the federal services. Most of the studies are undertaken to examine how women are different from the established male standards, or have used different models or variables to explain the slow career advancement of the women.
Using a 1991 survey of 278 female executives in the Senior Executive Service (SES) this study examines the characteristics, personal attributes, barriers, experiences, and leadership styles of women …
