Proactive management of SARS-CoV-2 requires timely and complete population data to track the evolution of the virus and identify at risk populations. However, many cases are asymptomatic and are not easily discovered through traditional testing efforts. Sentinel surveillance can be used to estimate the prevalence of infections for geographical areas but requires identification of sentinels who are representative of the larger population. Our goal is to evaluate applicability of a population of labor and delivery patients for sentinel surveillance system for monitoring the prevalence of SARS-CoV-2 infection. In this study, we conduct a textual analysis of the third-party disclosure of corporate sustainability news focused on the Standard and Poor's 500 firms in the United States market during the first and second quarter of 2020. We find a positive relationship between corporate sustainability news release and firm-specific stock price crash risk. This finding is surprising, but it indeed aligns with agency theory. It indicates that the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic exacerbated the tendency of managers under increasing financial pressure to use the sustainability information release as a mechanism to mask and withhold bad news for extended periods at …

This study includes an examination of the effect of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic on electronic payment apps. Ever since the pandemic caused a global shutdown, the banking industry was forced to adjust their usual operations and adopt new technological advancements that would allow for contactless payment. Consumers, worried about contracting the virus through the physical exchange of currency, resorted to utilizing payment apps. This contributed to the increase in electronic payment usage. This qualitative, flexible design, multi-case study explored the financial impact of COVID-19 on foreign-born Filipino Asian Immigrant entrepreneurs. Specifically, what impact it had on this ethnic group in Duval County, Florida. This body of research sought to determine the challenges faced by these entrepreneurs along with how they were impacted by this event, and the lessons learned. During the research phase, 46 firms were contacted, and some were discovered to have been closed and others ineligible for the study. The COVID-19 pandemic provided an opportunity for management scholars to address large-scale and complex societal problems and strive for greater practical and policy impact. A brief overview of the most-cited work on COVID-19 reveals that, compared with their counterparts in other disciplines, leading management journals and professional associations lagged in providing a platform for high-impact research on COVID-19. The COVID-19 pandemic has brought unprecedented challenges to healthcare systems worldwide, forcing them to adapt and implement alternative modes of healthcare delivery quickly. Telehealth, the delivery of healthcare services through telecommunication technologies, has become crucial in providing continuous care while reducing the risk of virus transmission. This qualitative study aimed to explore healthcare managers' perceptions of the use of telehealth and its impact on healthcare practices during the pandemic, particularly in terms of provision and quality control.
