Background

Youth with ADHD are at risk of academic impairments, dropping out of high school, and dysfunction in young adulthood. Interventions delivered early in high school could prevent these harmful outcomes, yet few high school students with ADHD receive treatment due to limited access to intervention providers. This study will test a peer-delivered intervention (STRIPES) for general education 9th grade students with impairing ADHD symptoms.

Methods

A type 1 hybrid effectiveness-implementation design will be used to evaluate the effectiveness of STRIPES and explore the intervention’s implementability. Analyses will test the impact of STRIPES vs. enhanced school services control on target …

In-House Preparation, Outsourcing, Or Offshoring Of Tax Services To Third-Party Service Providers: Does Disclosure To The Client Matter?, Renu Desai, Vikram Desai, Julia Davidyan, Andrew Felo

HCBE Faculty Articles

The AICPA’s Code of Professional Conduct (the “Code”) requires that if a member intends to use the services of a third party service provider (TPSP), the client should be informed. However, the wording in the Code is not mandatory via the use of must. In addition, there is no differentiation between disclosures of outsourcing tax return preparation versus offshoring tax return preparation. This could be considered a significant area of concern because there are ethical considerations with disclosure, or lack thereof, and the economic considerations involved in offshoring of returns that are distinctly different from outsourcing returns within the U.S. …

HCBE Faculty Articles

This research sought to evaluate race strategies in Cross Country running to determine whether a fast, predicted, or slow start would yield the best results when coupled with an advancing or regressing strategy from the 1st checkpoint through to the finish. Twelve National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Championship races were analyzed from 2021 to 2022 (N=315 teams; 2,205 runners). Success was defined by each team's finish relative to their anticipated finish, as determined through pre-championship national rankings. Results indicated that starting well ahead of a predicted finishing place and advancing throughout the race can yield finishes well ahead of a …

The purpose of this project is to examine why the mental health of employees should be prioritized in the workplace. Most employees have likely experienced a visible illness or injury at some point during their careers. It is easier to identify these physical ailments that may adversely affect an employee’s performance at work, such as a broken leg or the common cold. This article is part of a series of book excerpts from The Entrepreneur’s Intellectual Property & Business Handbook, which provides the business, strategy, and legal reference guide for start-ups and small businesses. The FTC Franchise Rule is not the only law regulating franchise relationships. Many states also have versions of disclosure laws or laws requiring fair dealing. The states with fair dealing regulations enforce state-based legal obligations on the franchisor that cannot be modified by the contractual terms. The intersection of federal law with the array of state regulations make the issuance of a franchise complex. A company should not …

Information, like any other type of property, has value to the extent that it meets the standards of relevance to the recipient. Relevance may be based in part on exclusivity, but it is also based on the reliability, resilience, and security of the information. Particularly when the information is data rather than entertainment content, these features will determine the success or failure of the enterprise. Without all three …
