Study Design—The effects of participant characteristics along with descriptions of pain, and psychological involvement, such as fear avoidance, were assessed using structural equation modeling to identify relationships between these factors and disability as a result of low back pain.

Objective—The aim of this study was to evaluate the relationship between factors related to pain description, participants’ characteristics, psychological involvement and disability through structural equation modeling.

This paper provides the materials used to collect survey data for the conceptual replication of Pavlou (2003) by Moqbel and Bartelt (2015). This replication paper used trust and perceived risk, in addition to the technology acceptance model (TAM) factors of perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use, to determine how consumer’s behavioral intentions affect online transactions (Moqbel & Bartelt, 2015). Two hundred forty participants took part in the 15-minute survey, with the option of choosing either online or paper format. Hedonic information systems are those that are used primarily for pleasure. Previous research has established that the intention to use hedonic information systems is explained mainly by perceived ease of use and perceived enjoyment, with perceived usefulness to one’s job being given less importance. Facebook could be seen as a hedonic information system. This paper employs a cross-sectional survey of 178 professionals who used Facebook to various degrees. Predictably, the authors’ empirical results show that perceived enjoyment is indeed a much stronger determinant of intended continued Facebook use than ease of use or usefulness to one’s job, explaining a considerable …

Monte Carlo experiments aimed at assessing the statistical power of structural equation modelling (SEM) techniques typically focus on true population path coefficients, ignoring true sample path coefficients. We demonstrate the limitations stemming from such practice in statistical power assessments. This is done in the context of SEM techniques employing the partial least squares (PLS) method, where power claims have led to much recent debate. We show that the sample sizes at which power is greater than .8 differ significantly when we consider true population and true sample paths, and that the difference increases with decreases in the magnitudes of the …
