Advancements in video capture and learning management systems (LMS) provide faculty with more tools than ever before to effectively teach quantitative business subjects to graduate students enrolled in blended and online courses. Students pursuing an MBA often come from diverse educational and professional backgrounds, with some continuing directly from undergraduate programs while others may be returning to school after spending years in the workforce. The creation of law pertaining to animals within our country is predominately fueled by the direct correlation it has to the well-being of our society as humans rather than the animal. This comes in the form of both economic and social values that we have deemed important to our livelihood. The sentiment for animals shifts when the animal leads to money in our pockets. Current events such as the recent removal of the CEO of United Airlines for being “bought” by port authority officials highlights the need to prepare students for ethical and effective participation in corporate, non-profit and civic life. Ongoing problems with the leadership of financial, political and social institutions, and increasingly diverse society and persistent inequities in the educational system point to the need for intentional learning opportunities that support the development of ethical leaders & informed citizens who are capable of solving complex social problems in a multicultural society.

Organizations that are acquired are done so with the intention of improving the economic position of the principals, yet, there are stakeholders who are negatively affected by a change in leadership due to a merger or an acquisition. How a company is assumed or acquired may have a positive impact on shareholders, but a negative impact on employees. The human aspect of mergers and acquisitions, and its impact on people and performance, is the focus of this paper. The authors will discuss the business related human behaviors such as management resistance, employee resistance, organizational transition, communication, and leadership’s role.
