This chapter is an attempt to extend the construct of cross cultural competence into the domain of medical tourism. One of the bases of competitive advantage in international medical tourism is cross cultural competence. While medical treatment in the U.S. is inherently expensive, cross cultural competence could act as a compensating lever. The U.S. hospitals employ a racially and ethnically diverse workforce, many of whom are recent migrants from different parts of the world.
