The cost of higher education, in real terms, doubled in the last twenty years, increasing faster than medical costs, the consumer price index and housing. In 1987, U.S. Secretary of Education, William J. Bennett, in the New York Times article, raised the concern that financial aid has unintended consequences of enabling higher education institution to increase tuition. In this paper, through collection of data and literature review, I examine the drivers behind the rising cost of higher education and test whether the postsecondary institutions in the state of Mississippi exhibit behavior, consistent with the Bennett Hypothesis. Furthermore, this analysis examines the economic impacts of inequalities in education and employment at a macroeconomic level and on an individual level. This thesis analyzes the social and racial factors that contributed to the cultural significance of U.S. Highway 61. First, I explore the background of road building and transportation in the United States. Next I detail the history of convict labor in the South, from convict leasing to convict labor on roads as a result of the Good Roads Movement. Third, I describe how economic and social conditions contributed to the out-migration of southerners during the twentieth century. Lastly, I analyze how social conditions spawned the Mississippi Delta blues, and how Highway 61 became a symbol of opportunity for blues musicians.

Each case was completed separately in an Honors Accounting 420 class that was intended to guide honors accounting students through the completion of the thesis process. Each case study focuses on a separate accounting reporting topic so that a more in depth and better understanding of the accounting procedures is achieved. This research aims to uncover personality traits that affect type II diabetics’ intentions to use wearable technologies. Survey data of 321 responses were used for data analysis to measure results. Data was analyzed using SPSS software to determine the effects of individual traits on current usage and purchase intentions of wearable technologies explored in the research. The individual traits studied were involvement, impulsivity, and self-consciousness. Smartwatches, smart socks, insulin pumps, and continuous glucose monitors were the wearables studied in this research. Results found that involvement has an impact on future purchase intentions of wearable technologies. However, impulsivity has partial statistical …

The primary goal of portfolio optimization is to achieve the maximum return from investment given a certain level of risk.
