During my years at University at Albany, I have studied accounting that is based on the United States regulation, GAAP. As I am from British Columbia, Canada, that uses a different standard, IFRS, I wanted to take this opportunity to research the differences between GAAP and IFRS. The purpose of this research paper is to explore the history of accounting in both countries and compare their differences in education, license requirements, fraud scandals, and their solutions.
