Um maximale Produktivität und hohe Qualität, d.h. minimale Nacharbeit nach der eigentlichen Übersetzungsphase, zu erreichen, müssen alle Übersetzenden mit Translation- Memory-Systemen arbeiten – selbst wenn es nur um die Übersetzung einzelner Sätze geht. Nur wenn alle Übersetzenden und Revisoren durchgängig mit Translation- Memory-Systemen arbeiten, ist sichergestellt, dass bereits übersetzte und genehmigte Inhalte geschützt sind und dass die stilistische Konsistenz auch innerhalb der größten Projekte gewährleistet ist. Wenn es neben der Verwendung von Translation-Memory-Systemen noch einen Faktor gibt, der für den Erfolg produktorientierter Übersetzungsprojekte entscheidend ist, dann ist es die Verfügbarkeit von umfassenden mehrsprachigen Terminologiedatenbanken zu Beginn derartiger Projekte. Authorship, and hence, initial ownership of copyrighted works is oftentimes controlled by the 1976 Copyright Act’s work made for hire doctrine. This doctrine states that works created by employees within the scope of their employment result in the employer owning the copyright. One key determination in this analysis is whether the hired party is an employee or independent contractor. In 1989, the U.S. Supreme Court, in CCNV v. Reid, answered the question of how employees are distinguished from independent contractors by setting forth a list of factors courts should consider. The telegraph was the first practical use of electricity. It revolutionized commercial communication and facilitated the globalization of business. As the telegraph developed as a medium of international communication, regulation was needed to overcome administrative and technical issues, and, importantly, to establish accounting procedures for the distribution of the revenue to multiple national partners. This paper traces the evolution of revenue allocation models through three international organizations that ultimately lead to the creation of the International Telecommunications Union (ITU) in 1932.
