The Walt Disney Company (Disney) announced preliminary plans for "Port Disney," a major theme park and destination resort complex which Disney was considering developing in Long Beach, California. As part of the planning effort for the project, Disney commissioned an analysis of the economic impacts (jobs and spending) and fiscal revenue impacts (revenues to public jurisdictions) of the project. The results summarized in this report are based on extensive analyses conducted by Kotin, Regan & Mouchly, Inc. (KRM), a Los Angeles-based economic consulting firm. Discovery Pavilion is exploring the market and financial feasibility of locating in the new CityWalk area of Universal City, California. CityWalk will add approximately 205,000 square feet of entertainment, restaurant, and retail space to the existing entertainment complex at Universal City. Discovery Pavilion would complement UCLA Extension, an anchor of the project, as a major cultural draw to the area.
