The Effects Of Management Control Systems And Innovation Presence On Bank Efficiency, Marjorie M. Abney Jan 2024

The Effects Of Management Control Systems And Innovation Presence On Bank Efficiency, Marjorie M. Abney

Theses, Dissertations and Capstones

The banking industry is currently experiencing its most notable period of technological transformation in history. Community banks in the U.S. have invested heavily in technology over the past decade with the goal of improving efficiency but have not achieved the expected outcomes in efficiency ratio. The literature identifies management control systems (MCS) in accounting as having the potential to benefit corporate innovation processes, suggesting that flexible and interactive MCS generally benefit corporate innovation. More specifically, the research suggests that the effectiveness of management controls on firm performance is dependent on the mode of innovation in which the firm operates. Following …

The purpose of this research was to examine the effects of smartphones in a clinical setting and for medical education to …

Effects Of Prior Use, Intention, And Habit On It Continuance Across Sporadic Use And Frequent Use Conditions, E. Vance Wilson, Nancy K. Lankton Jan 2013

Effects Of Prior Use, Intention, And Habit On It Continuance Across Sporadic Use And Frequent Use Conditions, E. Vance Wilson, Nancy K. Lankton

Accounting Faculty Research

This article is motivated by the desire to integrate and expand two literature streams, one that models effects of prior information technology (IT) use and habit strength on continued IT use and another that studies how to apply such models to IT that are used in a characteristically sporadic manner. We find that joint predictions of continuance intention, prior IT use, and habit strength within our research model are superior to subsets of the model across the extended range of usage frequency we studied. However, subsets of the model can also provide reasonable predictions where all measures are not available.

The Impact Of Social Networking Sites On College Students' Consumption Patterns, Whitney Sue Thoene

Theses, Dissertations and Capstones

This research study examines the effect of social media, particularly Facebook and Twitter, on the purchasing habits of college students by testing for correlations between recommendations on social media and consumption patterns. Moreover, the research also examines the role of gender and social media usage frequency on consumption patterns. Findings revealed that both Facebook and Twitter are being used to obtain sales information and promotions. Furthermore, gender has an impact on both social networking sites. Additionally, this study found the higher the frequency of social media usage the more likely customers are to shop at the businesses they have befriended.

The Innovative Success That Is Apple, Inc., Katherine Johnson, Yang Li, Hang Phan, Jason Singer, Hoang Trinh

Theses, Dissertations and Capstones

Apple, Inc. has been a successful company for years now. However, the company faces issues just like any other company. How Apple responds to these issues is in conjunction to the strengths and weaknesses of the firm. The business-level strategy of Apple also has much to do with how the company approaches various situations. The diversity and organization of the firm itself helps to address any issues that may arise. Competing in high level competitive industries also requires Apple Inc. changing day by day in order to overcome its competitors.

The Distinct Roles Of Prior It Use And Habit Strength In Predicting Continued Sporadic Use Of It, E. Vance Wilson, En Mao, Nancy K. Lankton Jan 2010

The Distinct Roles Of Prior It Use And Habit Strength In Predicting Continued Sporadic Use Of It, E. Vance Wilson, En Mao, Nancy K. Lankton

Accounting Faculty Research

This article studies prediction of continued IT use in conditions where individuals use the technology sporadically. Our study augments the unified theory of acceptance and use of technology (UTAUT) model [Venkatesh et al., 2003] with measures of prior IT use frequency and habit strength. We find these two factors provide distinct predictions which explain most of the effects that occur within the model under sporadic use conditions.

Measures Of Perceived Credibility Of Blogs: Construct Validation By Lisrel, Uday S. Tate, Elizabeth Alexander, Suneel K. Maheshwari

Management Faculty Research

Predictions are that blogs will be the promotional tool of the future, if not now. The question remains: how credible are blogs as a source of consumer information? How do consumers perceive the credibility of blogs from different sources when making purchase decisions and product evaluations? The primary objective of the present study is to assess validity and reliability of a set of Semantic Differential scales purported to measure perceived credibility of different types of blogs. Confirmatory factor analysis via LISREL8.5 package was used to obtain appropriate statistics for convergent validity, discriminant validity, and composite reliability. In general, the scales …

Information Systems And Health Care Viii-Using Paper-Based Scenarios To Examine Perceptions Of Interactive Health Communication Systems, Nancy K. Lankton, Robert D. St. Louis

Accounting Faculty Research

While information and communication technologies can increase the health care provided to underserved populations, research concerning these technologies often involves only those patients who possess access to technology or who are otherwise willing and able to use it. This issue is important for both researchers and practitioners because non-users' beliefs may not only be different from users' beliefs, they may become more important to understand as access to technology increases. To address this problem: 1. We develop a model of the antecedents to perceived usefulness of an interactive health communication (IHC) system. While our research model combines health-related beliefs with …

Interdisciplinary Research And Publication Opportunites In Information Systems And Health Care, E. Vance Wilson, Nancy K. Lankton

Accounting Faculty Research

Healthcare is a large and growing industry that is experiencing major transformation in its information technology base. IS confronted similar transformations in other industries and developed theories and methods that should prove useful in healthcare applications. In turn, IS may benefit from incorporating knowledge from health informatics, a discipline that studies IT within medical and healthcare contexts. Despite the benefits, it is often a struggle for interdisciplinary researchers in IS and healthcare to publish their work, especially in journals directed toward IS audiences. In this paper, we outline strategies and resources to help ease this publication bottleneck. As a part …
