This study assesses the readiness of United Way of Roanoke Valley (UWRV) for youth engagement in decision-making and other critical activities in the organization as part of the new Community Impact United Way. This professional project examines the growing focus on organizational evaluation and the use of assessment tools that contribute to organizational development and capacity-building. An extensive literature review addresses the background, framework and various approaches to organizational assessment. Three assessment tools reviewed in this project provided the basis for an organizational assessment of Teen Challenge of The Rocky Mountains. These tools along with interviews and an examination of records and organizational documents resulted in a wide spectrum of recommendations. The core recommendations address the need for sufficient and sustainable assets, deep and broad leadership, and a commitment to learning and self-reflection.

This paper examines the ways in which the use of complementary currencies can help solve the current crisis in American health care and create abundance in the lives of those people who have been marginalized by both the prevailing health care and economic systems. The 2005 release of Foundations in Wisconsin marks the 24th edition of the print directory and the 5th year of the online version (www.wifoundations.org). The directory is designed as a research tool for grantseekers interested in locating information on private, corporate, and community foundations registered in Wisconsin. Each entry in this new edition has been updated or reviewed to provide the most current information available. Most of the data was extracted from IRS 990-PF tax returns filed by the foundations. However, additional information was obtained from surveys, annual reports, and foundation Web sites.

An Exploratory Analysis Of Post Strategic Plan Implementation Fidelity In Two Urban-Based, Nonprofit Health Education/Advocacy Organizations, Theodore N. Burke

This research is a multi case study examining the degree of fidelity (adherence) accorded to strategic plans following implementation in two, urban-based, nonprofit, tax-exempt 501 (c) (3) health education/advocacy organizations. The study was focused on the impetus and goals for strategic planning, the similarities and differences in the implementation processes, adherence (fidelity) to the plan once implemented, and finally what factors prompted the fidelity or lack of fidelity to the plan once implemented. Fourteen respondent participants from the two organizations were interviewed using a semi-structured interview format. Findings of this study indicated that post-strategic plan fidelity following implementation did exist. …
