Social media is bringing consumers and businesses together like never before. Using social metrics such as “likes” and “shares”, businesses can both measure and influence consumer attitudes and behaviors. In an effort to expand upon growing research into the effects likes and shares may have on constructs such as attitude, intent to follow, trust, and adoption intention, this study designs an experiment which manipulates one small and one national business’s actual Facebook posts to measure the effects simply having higher or lower likes and shares can have on a consumer’s perception of that business. Why I Purchase What I See On Facebook: Comparing The Impact Of Electronic Word-Of-Mouth Between Hispanic And Non-Hispanic Consumers, Nivia Escobar, Sindy Chapa

This study aims to explore the role of the adoption and consumption of Facebook on Electronic Word-Of-Mouth (eWOM) among Hispanics versus African Americans, Asians, and Non-Hispanics Whites in the United States, whilst exploring the impact of attitudes towards eWOM on the likelihood to purchase something because of the “Likes” on Facebook. A national panel was used to collect the data and an ANOVA test was conducted to test the hypotheses. The results indicated Non-Hispanic White consumers were significantly less likely to use WOM than Hispanic, African Americans and Asians. Utilising Social Media To Improve Relationship Quality: The Case Of The University Library, Melissa N. Clark, Scott Bacon

As the centre of academic life at a university, the university library plays an important role in how students perceive their relationship with the university. This study analyses the effect that participation in library social media has on student perception of relationship quality with the university. The hypotheses proposed in this study were found to be substantiated: following the library on social media is positively related to a student's perception of their relationship quality with the university; students interested in multiple library services are likely to report the perception of a higher quality relationship with the university.
