Job Satisfaction And Turnover Intention Among Malaysian Private University Academics: Perceived Organisational Support As A Moderator, Septriyan Orpina, Nurul Iman Binti Abdul Jalil, T'Ng Soo Ting

Research Aims: The present research examines the extent to which job satisfaction predicts turnover intentions and examines the extent to which perceived organisational support moderates the association between job satisfaction and turnover intention among academics in Malaysian private universities.

Design/Methodology/Approach: This research adopted a quantitative method. The Turnover Intention Scale (TIS-6), Minnesota Satisfaction Questionnaire (MSQ), and Survey of Perceived Organisational Support (SPOS) questionnaires were administered. Multistage cluster random sampling was used in this study. A total of 327 respondents provided valid data and analysed it using SPSS Process Macro Version 3.5.

Research Aims: The study aims to examine the influence of financial literacy on the performance of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Malaysia. Design/methodology/approach: The data were obtained from questionnaires distributed to 200 SME managers/owners. Multiple regression analysis was applied to test the influence of financial literacy on SMEs performance by controlling manager profile and SME-specific characteristics. Research Findings: Multiple regression results prove that financial literacy has a positive and significant impact on SMEs' performance. Managers/owners with financial literacy skills understand business-related financial concepts, including debt, savings, takaful, insurance, and investment, which ensure the good performance of their business. Intellectual Capital Performance And Firm Value: The Effect Of Mfrs 139, Abdullah Jihad Rasmi Rabaya, Norman Mohd Saleh, Noradiva Hamzah

Research Aims: We examine the intellectual capital (IC) performance and its connection with firm value. We also investigate whether the adoption of an enhanced quality standard MFRS 139 that affect recognition and measurement of financial instrument's fair values, moderates the relationship between IC performance and firm value. Design/methodology/approach: We used panel data analysis of listed financial institutions' data for 2005 - 2015 period. Research Aims: This study proposes to fill the gap in entreprenuership literature by focusing on the relationship between entrepreneurs' psychological capital and growth intention mediated by their work performance. Design/methodology/approach: This research used cross-sectional quantitative research and employed convenience sampling technique. The Relative Effects Of Entrepreneurial Characteristics And Government Support On The Internationalisation And Performance Of Malaysian Smes, Aida Idris, Mohd Najib Saad

Research Aims: In line with international entrepreneurship theory, this study investigated the effects of entrepreneurial characteristics and government support on small and medium enterprise (SME) internationalisation and performance. Design/Methodology/Approach: The study focussed on Malaysia as a developing economy; data were gathered from 237 SMEs with international business operations to facilitate the examination of associative relationships among the variables. Research Findings: Results of structural equation modelling show that government support has a direct positive effect on internationalisation whereas entrepreneurial characteristics do not. Most studies on humanitarian aid and disaster relief (HADR) missions suggest that the quality of logistics, coordination and human resource management will affect their performance. However, studies in developing countries are mainly conceptual and lack the necessary empirical evidence to support these contentions. The current paper thereby aimed to fill this knowledge gap by statistically examining the effects of the abovementioned factors on such missions. This study identifies the factors that have a direct effect on a manager's decision towards Open Source System (OSS) enterprise system adoption in Malaysia. Using the Technology-Organization-Environment (TOE) framework, the research is initiated by inviting the managers in Malaysian organizations who implemented OSS. A survey was conducted via online OSS social communities and by sending emails to shortlisted public. Entrepreneurial Inclination Among Business Students: A Malaysian Study, Yet-Mee Lim, Teck-Heang Lee, Boon-Liat Cheng

Entrepreneurship has been the fundamental topics of discussion among the politicians, economists, and academics. Business creation is especially critical in developing countries to stimulate economic growth. The present study attempts to examine entrepreneurial inclination among students who are a potential source of entrepreneurs. The findings of the present research study indicate that majority of our business students are not entrepreneurial-inclined. They do not seem to possess strong entrepreneurial characteristics and entrepreneurial skills, and they are not keen in starting a new business. The roles of higher institutes of education and the government in promoting entrepreneurship are discussed.

This paper aims to examine the extent of human capital (HC) reporting among top Malaysian companies and introduce an HC reporting guideline that can be used by Malaysian companies and regulator. It begins by developing the HC framework based on previous intellectual capital (IC) frameworks. This framework is then used to examine each of the top 100 Malaysian companies listed on the Bursa Malaysia in year 2008. Role Stressors And Job Performance: An Empirical Investigation In Malaysia, Aizzat Mohd. Nasurdin, Soon Lay Khuan

The South East Asian Journal of Management

The purpose of this study was to empirically evaluate the influence of role stressors (role conflict and role ambiguity) in predicting job performace (task performance and contextual performance). Survey data was drawn from a sample of 136 customer-contact employees within the telecomunications industry of Malaysia. Results of the regression analyses showed that role conflict alone had a significant and negative relationship with task performance. On the other hand, both role conflict and role ambiguity were found to be significantly and negatively related to contextual performance. Implications of the findings and directions for future research are discussed.
