e-Science is a methodology of scientific research that developed from the convergence of digital technologies and communication. The ubiquitous computer and ease of access to the Internet has allowed for near instantaneous and global distribution of large data sets. This technology, paired with interdisciplinary collaboration, has brought about the need to organize and effectively promote the “tools, knowledge and skills to effectively participate in networked science” and provide tools for effective data curation.

Digital curation is no longer bound to preservation techniques that require data to be stored in a vault with only one or two authorized users [1]. Digital Asset Management Systems (DAMS) offer many efficient solutions that incorporate metadata and in so doing, DAMS help to increase access for all users. The question is: how can libraries select a DAMS that will meet the needs of their researchers, universities and funding institutions while providing sustainable digital preservation and access?

Advances in cancer treatments and the increasing availability of information are changing the information behaviors of cancer patients. Many American adults search for health-related information on the Internet and have made decisions based on results from general search engines. Information and health professionals are concerned about the reliability, validity and volume of health information available. Patient usage and preferences are discussed. This article reviews recent literature and research surrounding the information seeking behaviors of cancer patients and provides ideas for future research.
