Value Beyond Borders: Moderating Effects Of Global Owners On The Negative Relationship Between Fdi And Sanctions Intensity, Maeve Walsh

This research explores, with a large dataset, how global owners moderate the negative relationship between foreign direct investment and sanctions intensity. To explore the impact different factors have on subsidiaries, the top ten Japanese pharmaceutical companies’ data was collected over five years. This research describes the methods utilized to collect the data from the Japanese pharmaceutical companies, followed by the statistical regression used to analyze the outcomes. Finally, the data explores international business implications from the analysis.

Trust between organizations has been recognized as crucial in international business (IB) and has attracted extensive research attention. Researchers have conceptualized and measured interorganizational trust in multiple ways, investigated numerous determinants and outcomes of interorganizational trust, and explored interorganizational trust in several types of international relationships across a range of country combinations using varied research methodologies. During the last few years, Korean entertainment has captivated audiences globally. Parasite was the first foreign film to win Best Picture at the Oscars, BTS was nominated for a Grammy Award, and Squid Game was one of the most popular TV shows of 2021. A discussion of the merits of these works I will leave to the artists and critics. My question is, what does this wave of popularity mean to the South Korean economy?

In this review article we take stock of international business (IB) research on emerging economy multinational enterprises (EMNEs) over the past three decades. Our review covers 690 articles published in 64 high-impact peer-reviewed journals between 1990 and 2021 (inclusive). We first present bibliometric findings on some key patterns of this vast body of scholarly work. We then conduct content analysis to critically assess this literature and provide a multilevel synthesis of the existing knowledge base.
