Compare real-world human responses to potential conflict situations to an artificial intelligence response. Several articles have suggested that LLMs may actually be more successful at modeling proper human emotional responses than factual based responses. The objective of this assignment is for students to discover if and how a LLM can serve as a model for proper responses to minimize conflict and increase team effectiveness. The Effects Of Conflict Type And Conflict Expression Intensity On Conflict Management, Gergana Todorova, Kenneth T. Goh, Laurie Weingart

Purpose: This paper aims to add to the current knowledge about conflict management by examining the relationships between conflict type, conflict expression intensity and the use of the conflict management approach. Design/methodology/approach: The authors test theory-based hypotheses using a field study of new product development teams in an interdisciplinary Masters program (Study 1) and an experimental vignette study (Study 2). Findings: Results show that people are more likely to respond to task conflict and conflicts expressed with less intensity using collectivistic conflict management approaches (i.e. problem-solving, compromising and yielding), and to relationship conflicts and conflicts expressed with higher intensity through …

Abstract

Problem: Retention of assistant nurse managers (ANMs) was identified as a concern from interviews with executive leadership and ANMs employed at a large hospital within a Northern California integrated health system. The nurse leader orientation training was reviewed, with gaps identified in conflict management and team building.

Context: The attrition rate of U.S. nurse managers in 2010 was 8.3%, higher than executive nurse leaders, with replacement costs equal to 75% - 125% of a nurse manager’s salary (Loveridge, 2017). Workplace violence has been increasing in the United States for the past several decades. It affects everyone, not just those who have direct experience with it in employment situations. The authors describe the extent of the problem and provide recommendations regarding how managers and helping professionals can help prevent violent and abusive behavior from occurring in the workplace. In recent years a growing number of interventions have been designed to reduce the impact of workplace bullying within organisations. However, due to a lack of research into this area relatively little is known about the efficacy of such programs. This paper presents an overview of a longitudinal research project being constructed to determine the impact of training on workplace bullying to assist employees to manage workplace bullying when it occurs.
