More than ever, globalization affects the hospitality industry with tremendous growth of international travelers—in the United States, inbound international visitation rose from around 25 million in 1985, to almost 67 million in 2012 (Mowforth & Munt, 2016). The concept of globalization, according to Robertson (1992), associates the integration and connectivity of culture and communities, while minimizing preformed boundaries. Half of all United States visitation comes from overseas travelers, with the largest share of foreign visitors coming from Japan, China, Brazil and South Korea (U.S. Travel Association, 2016). The Korean food industry is enjoying international attention and growth as the Korean government’s globalization efforts spur the development of Korean restaurants in international markets such as the United States (Korean Food Foundation, 2013). Korean cuisine is being branded as healthy food that harmonizes nutrition and flavor (Jang & Ha, 2009). Now is the time to start new Korean restaurants in the U.S.’s ethnic cuisine market. This paper provides a business plan focusing on a fine-dining Korean restaurant operation in the Las Vegas market, which is currently devoid of such an operation.

Globalization is fast becoming the new trend of the hospitality industry. It remains as a highly complex and controversial concept that is not a new phenomenon. Researchers have suggested that globalization is likely an irreversible forceful process that will change the face of businesses (Mrak, 2000). In the recent Global Relocation Trends Survey conducted annually by GMAC Global Relocation Services (2007), it was reported that more than two-thirds (69%) of the multinational corporations surveyed reported an increase to the number of international assignments.
