Online Word-Of-Mouth And Mobile Product Reviews:An Experimental Investigation Of The Mediating Role Of Mobile Self Efficacy, Christopher P. Furner, Robert A. Zinko, Zhen Zhu, William Mcdowell, Adam Dalton

Online word-of-mouth (WOM) has been studied extensively by electronic commerce researchers, particularly in the realm of online product reviews. As mobile computing becomes more and more common, difference in navigation and the ability to foster focus may lead to changes in the way in which consumers read and react to mobile product reviews compared to online reviews. We use research related to mobile computing limitations, Mobile Self Efficacy and information overload to outlines a study in which two common online review outcomes, trust in the review and purchase intention are evaluated in a mobile environment.

The Relationship Of E-Commerce Readiness To Technology Acceptance: The Case Of Barbados, Jude E. Edwards, Leila A. Halawi, Richard Mccarthy
Leila A. Halawi
This is an exploratory study that examines the relationship between selected components of ecommerce readiness and dimensions of Davis’ (1989) Technology Acceptance Model. Building upon the notion that there exists some linkage between ecommerce readiness and technology Acceptance, this study seeks to examine these linkages in e-businesses within Barbados. Three relationships are proposed – a relationship between technology acceptance and the existing e-Readiness infrastructure, a relationship between technology acceptance and current telecommunications access, and a relationship between technology acceptance and education. The results of this study demonstrated that there are strong relationships between e-commerce readiness components and various technology acceptance …
The Erosion Of Autonomy In Online Consumer Transactions, Eliza Mik
The Erosion Of Autonomy In Online Consumer Transactions, Eliza Mik

Online businesses influence consumer behaviour by means of a wide range of technologies that determine what information is displayed as well as how and when it is displayed. This creates an unprecedented power imbalance between the transacting parties, raising questions not only about the permissible levels of procedural exploitation in contract law, together with the adequacy of existing consumer protections but also about the impact of technology on consumer autonomy. There is, however, no single technology that threatens the latter. It is the combined, mutually-enforcing effect of multiple technologies that influence consumer choices at different stages in the transacting process, …

Continued usage of information systems (or, IS continuance) has proven to be a critical success parameter for ICT implementation at the top of the global economic pyramid. However, there are few studies which have explored continued IS usage at the bottom of the economic pyramid (BOP) though it represents the majority of the world’s population. To fill this knowledge gap, this study develops an mHealth continuance model at the BOP framing the impact of two post adoption expectation beliefs (i.e., perceived service quality and perceived trust). This study extends ECM (expectation confirmation model) perspective synthesizing the extant literature on continued …

Defining Your Own Sustainable Future, Jacob Johnsen
Jacob Johnsen, MSc
How do you create – and maintain – an attractive service portfolio, and how to compete in a shifting environment? In our changing world, survival is not a question of size, speed or coverage. You must be adaptive. Posts can find out where to adapt, by examining the changes in customer behaviour, changing demands and technological achievements. Volumes are shifting from letters to packets, and so far, courier companies have taken market share from posts. Jacob Johnsen looks at the current changes and gives some guidelines on how to set up pointers for an ever-changing direction.

Impact Of Internet And Social Media On Organisational Change Of Otc Medicines Marketing Management, Vasja Roblek
Vasja Roblek
Pharmaceutical companies have been forced to change their approach to selling over-the-counter (OTC) medicines because of the increased pressure on sales margins. The development of Web 2.0, Web 3.0, and social media technologies allow low-cost online marketing, including e-commerce. An organisational adaptation has to cope with the changes in the OTC drug market is required because of the widespread use of the internet and social media. The increased importance of digital media for marketing has convinced the OTC medical industry to include the use of social media in its customer relationship management strategy. Qualitative research on the impact of the …

In today’s competitive environment, it is important for web designers to understand what design elements are essential for attracting visitors, making the visitor trust the website, and perform intended actions like placing an order and revisiting the site. Trustworthiness of a website heavily relies on a good first impression and visitor’s visual perception of the user interface. Therefore, the focus of this research is to investigate the effects of visual design elements on trustworthiness of a site. In this research-in-progress paper, we develop a conceptual model to depict the relationships among website design elements and trustworthiness. This conceptual model aids …

Changing The Way Posts Operate, Jacob Johnsen
Jacob Johnsen, MSc
The first part of the book describes how the market is changing and identifies some of the key factors influencing these changes; the second section then explores what kind of leadership is needed in this context, where collaboration is essential and no business stands by itself. Needless to say, posts do not just need to think differently but also to change the way that they operate, which is explored in the third section; the whole culture of the posts needs to change and that is not achieved easily or quickly, as can be seen in the fourth section. Section five …

(Wp 2014-01) Is Bitcoin The 'Paris Hilton' Of The Currency World? Or Are The Early Investors Onto Something That Will Make Them Rich? [Updated Version], Abdur Chowdhury
Abdur R. Chowdhury
The bitcoin phenomenon, and the technological innovation that made it possible, is interesting - but for investors large and small, the more pertinent question is whether they should buy the digital currency or avoid it. We analyze a bitcoin investment from the standpoint of an investor with a diversified portfolio using both in-sample and out-of-sample settings. Within the in-sample setting, bitcoin does not yield added value to investors with utility function consistent with the mean-variance setting. On the other hand, they do offer diversification benefits to investors with negative exponential and power utility functions. However, these benefits are not preserved …

While the IT innovation topic has gathered significant research interests, the existing discourse on IT innovation is centered on internal organizational processes such as IT capability development and organizational learning rather than IT innovation networks as the primary means for achieving superior enterprise performance. This is an important topic because a networked perspective of IT-enabled innovation is a critical dimension for the dynamics of collaborative innovation in today’s networked economy. In particular, the development and implementation of a digital business ecosystem (DBE); a specific type of business ecosystem defined as an IT-enabled business network of entities with differing interests bound …

The Economic And Behavioral Success Of Riot Games In An Undifferentiated Video Game Market, Maxine J. Yakobi
Maxine J Yakobi
The vast success of Riot Games is relatively undisputed amongst financial analysts as well as online communities despite there being little information publicly available that specifically addresses how their game has differentiated itself in a homogenous market. Additionally, there is little information that addresses the opportunity cost of paying money for components within this specific server for advantages within the game. I believe there to be something functionally unique about Riot’s business in particular that allows for it to acquire steady fiscal growth from people investing their money into effectively a “free” online game and I would like to explore …

Response To Questions In The First White Paper, 'Modernizing The Communications Act', Randolph J. May, Richard A. Epstein, Justin (Gus) Hurwitz, Daniel Lyons, James B. Speeta, Christopher S. Yoo
Daniel Lyons
The House Energy and Commerce Committee has begun a process to review and update the Communications Act of 1934, last revised in any material way in 1996. As the Committee begins the review process, this paper responds to questions posed by the Committee that all relate, in fundamental ways, to the question: "What should a modern Communications Act look like?" The Response advocates a "clean slate" approach under which the regulatory silos that characterize the current statute would be eliminated, along with almost all of the ubiquitous 'public interest' delegation of authority found throughout the Communications Act. The replacement regime …

How Are Electronic Marketplaces Different Among Industry Sectors?, Dothang Truong
Dothang Truong, Ph.D.
Electronic marketplaces have been studied from many different perspectives. However, its role in the economy has not received adequate attention. This research paper addresses two major questions: 1) What are the differences among industry sectors in using electronic marketplaces; 2) How ready are companies in each industry sector to using electronic marketplaces. An empirical data was collected in the America and some statistical analysis has been done to answer those questions. The findings and discussions are provided as well.

Are All Types Of Electronic Marketplaces The Same From Buyers’ Perception?, Dothang Truong, Thuong T. Le, Sylvain Senecal, S. Subba Rao
Dothang Truong, Ph.D.
This study tests if buyers perceive conceptually different electronic marketplaces as distinct types of procurement platforms. Data from a Web-based survey of 359 purchasing professionals in the United States shows buyers’ expectations of benefits differ significantly between public EMs (i.e., third-party exchanges and industry sponsored marketplaces) and private EMs (i.e., private trading networks), and between neutral EMs (i.e., third-party exchanges) and biased EMs (i.e., private trading networks and industry sponsored marketplaces). Likewise, their perception of risks differs significantly between public and private EMs.

Impact Of Corporate Social Responsibility On Otc Medicines Consumers, Vasja Roblek

In the article is presented the case of trust-based marketing of over-the-counter (OTC) medicines. The relationship between the hypotheses was tested by means of structural equation modelling. The results of the first model show that the predictor variable (consumer satisfaction with safety and information) has a significant effect on the mediator variable (consumer trust). The results of the second model show that the consumer trust also has a significant effect on virtual brand loyalty (dependent variable). Model 3 was developed by including consumer perception of corporate social responsibility (CSR) and consumer trust as independent predictor variables and virtual brand loyalty …
