Asesmen Transformasi Digital Galeri Nasional Indonesia, Desy Novita Sari, Luki Wijayanti

Jurnal Ilmu Informasi, Perpustakaan dan Kearsipan

Digital transformation assessment has not received full attention and is still rarely carried out by art galleries/museums in Indonesia. Digital transformation research on library and information science (LIS) that covers GLAM's concept focuses more on libraries, archives, and museums, while art galleries are scarce, especially in Indonesia. This study aims to conduct a digital transformation assessment of art galleries, especially the National Gallery of Indonesia (Galnas). The research uses a quantitative method by applying a digital transformation framework questionnaire that had tested at 400 cultural institutions in Italy (including art galleries). This research measures the Digital Readiness Index (DRI) on …

Cal Poly Humboldt Digital Laboratory

An essay depicting the conceptual image of "The New Technologist", an arbiter of taste in our ever-present, technological future. The ethics of creative practice as a technologist are as important as the impact of the products. Our cultural aptitude for technology as creators is called into question while our creative potential parallels the rise in technological accessibility.

Market-Driven Pressures And Institutional Biases At A University: A Review Of The Tv Series The Chair, Manoella Antonieta Ramos

Markets, Globalization & Development Review

“The Chair” is a series that explores important contemporary issues such as cancel culture, institutional racism, sexism, and ageism in the context of a university setting. The series follows the story and struggles of Professor Ji-Yoon Kim, the first woman, and an Asian-American, to be appointed chair of the English department at the elite Pembroke University, as she tries to protect the employment of a young African-American female professor and to raise her adopted daughter as a harried single parent. This media review essay examines the themes and issues addressed in this TV series, including the challenges faced by women …

Phantom Shootings, Allan Ambris Jun 2023

Phantom Shootings, Allan Ambris

Dissertations, Theses, and Capstone Projects

This capstone is a website designed to critique NYC Open Data reporting with respect to shootings through a series of visualizations and discoveries. The NYPD Shooting Incidents datasets (Historic and Year to Date) introduce themselves to the user by claiming to be a “list of every shooting incident that occurred in NYC.” The supplied documentation reveals that this is not the case.

After understanding the supporting materials, there are still undisclosed truths. My exploration of the data revealed that a single victim may be represented across multiple entries. Additionally, multiple victims may be represented by a single entry. It is …

Open Textbook For Art 27, Nate Cooper

Open Educational Resources

Work in Progress - In the Spring of 2023, I will endeavor to work collaboratively with students to develop an open textbook for the Art 26: UX Visual Design course. As this class has only been offered once in the past and in general the UX courses are new at Kingsborough there isn't an obvious single authority on the subject. As a practitioner in the field professionally, I grow concerned that even if a solid text could be found in print that industry changes happen so frequently that the only helpful authority will need to be a dynamic work. Hence, …

Auto-Exploited: Narrative Explorations Of The Commodification Of Time, Grace C. Willis Ms.

MSU Graduate Theses

This thesis is an exploration of the phenomenon of the auto-exploitation of the modern individual through and in conjunction with the commodification of time. It explores the eruption of gig-work in recent decades in the United States, and the ways in which the modern individual is both consumer and product, buying and selling her own constructions of identity in order to gain time, fiscal currency and a sense of socioeconomic worth from herself and others. Using theoretical frameworks of Karl Marx, Michel Foucault, Judith Butler, Catherine Rottenberg and Byung-Chul Han, I explore the ways in which the modern individual is …

New Frontiers In Technology: Can Traditional Intellectual Property Rights Laws Be Adapted And Applied To Nfts?, Mariyah S. Wakhariya

Catholic University Journal of Law and Technology

A decade ago, ‘NFTs’ were rarely heard of or known to anyone, unless they worked in or kept up with the tech world. However, they are not new - they have been around for almost two decades. Their popularity has grown over the past few years. ‘NFT’ stands for ‘non-fungible token’. An NFT is a digital file with a unique identity that is verified on a blockchain and is therefore not interchangeable - i.e., a kind of crypto asset, like an authentication certificate for digital artifacts. In theory, NFTs can represent almost any real or intangible property. These days, it …
