Online credit card fraud targeting banks, customers, and businesses costs millions of U.S. dollars annually. Online business leaders face challenges securing and regulating the online payment processing environment. Grounded in the situational crime prevention theory, the purpose of this qualitative multiple case study was to explore strategies online business leaders use to mitigate the loss of revenue caused by online credit card fraud. The participants comprised five online business leaders of an organization in the Southwest of the United States, who implemented strategies that successfully mitigated revenue losses due to online credit card fraud.
