The task of creating a public will is daunting in any political system, but a democracy dedicated to the principles of participation and public deliberation faces specific challenges, including overcoming organized opposition that may not accept democratic tenets. In the sphere of education (and social reproduction more generally), business-influenced movements to reform public education question many of the established goals and norms of democratic education and thus may be the vanguard of such opposition. En el año 2012, la economía colombiana se encontraba en un contexto favorable creciendo a tasas saludables y con niveles de inversión que llegaban a máximos históricos. Aun así, en Colombia tradicionalmente han persistido altos niveles de desigualdad, informalidad y desempleo que constituyen importantes barreras al desarrollo, algunas de ellas causadas, por lo menos parcialmente, por factores asociados al sistema tributario. Por lo anterior, para el año en mención surgió la necesidad de introducir una reforma, aprobada mediante la Ley 1607 de 2012, con motivo de corregir las inequidades en la estructura del sistema tributario colombiano. Many institutions in higher education are actively engaged in the retrenchment process in order to achieve financial stability. This research examined public perceptions of retrenchment by conducting a series of modified Delphi groups. Results suggest a public awareness and belief that retrenchment will not impact academic or experiential quality. Presented is REDUCE - a retrenchment strategy for university administrators and marketing professionals.

Intention plays a very important role to measure one’s willingness to pursue entrepreneurship as a career. Previous researchers have differed about various antecedents that impact the entrepreneurial intention to start a business. Entrepreneurship education (EE) assumes to play an important role in shaping traits and attitudes of an entrepreneur, contrary to the “entrepreneurs are born” school of thought. A multifaceted learning model was developed for implementing e-learning in a largely commuter campus. The primary objective of the model was to build a flexible learning environment that combined the learning effectiveness of in-class learning with the flexibility and accessibility of online learning. One of the components of the model was the multimedia instructional modules produced to teach various Information Technology courses. Several different types of modules were produced representing chalk-and-talk type of lectures, PowerPoint presentations and software tutorials. The demand for information technology at institutions of higher education is increasing at a rapid pace. It is fueled by student, faculty, and administrative needs. This paper examines project management practices at these institutions with respect to the sizes of the institutions. Survey results indicate an emphasis on operational concerns at small and medium size institutions when selecting IT projects. The prominence of the role of project manager and adoption of formal PM tools/techniques by IT departments generally increase with the sizes of the institutions.
