The Turnover Intentions For Construction Engineers, Kuo-Shun Sun
The Turnover Intentions For Construction Engineers, Kuo-Shun Sun
Journal of Marine Science and Technology
This study looks at the effects of job satisfaction, organizational commitment and individual factors on turnover intentions of construction engineers. It makes use of samples of the construction engineers from the engineering design department of Taiwanese engineering consultant companies. From the results of a logistic regression analysis, normative commitment as well as job satisfaction were found to significantly impact construction engineers' turnover intentions.
Model Construction Of Option Pricing Based On Fuzzy Theory, Shang-En Yu, Ming-Yuan Leon Li, Kun-Huang Huarng, Tsung-Hao Chen, Chen-Yuan Chen
Model Construction Of Option Pricing Based On Fuzzy Theory, Shang-En Yu, Ming-Yuan Leon Li, Kun-Huang Huarng, Tsung-Hao Chen, Chen-Yuan Chen
Journal of Marine Science and Technology
Option pricing is a tool that investors often use for the purpose of arbitrage or hedging. However, both the BlackScholes model and the CRR model can only provide a theoretical reference value. The volatility in the CRR model cannot always appear in the precise sense because the financial markets fluctuate from time to time. Hence, the fuzzy volatility is naturally to be considered. The main purpose of this paper is the application of fuzzy sets theory to the CRR model. It is expected that fuzzy volatility, instead of the crisp values conventionally used in the CRR model, can provide reasonable …
Through A Fractured Lens: Women Entrepreneurs And The Private Equity Negotiation Process, Frances M. Amatucci, Ethne Swartz
Through A Fractured Lens: Women Entrepreneurs And The Private Equity Negotiation Process, Frances M. Amatucci, Ethne Swartz
Department of Information Management and Business Analytics Faculty Scholarship and Creative Works
Access to financial resources remains an important aspect of new venture start-up and growth strategies. While women still obtain a small amount of total private equity investment, they are increasingly involved in developing high growth ventures which may be attractive investment opportunities for venture capitalists and business angels. Contract, or term sheet, negotiation is an important stage of the investment process. Although gender-related differences in negotiation styles are well documented in other fields, they have not been examined in entrepreneurship. This research utilizes a mixed method study of gender and negotiation strategies employed during the private equity investment process.

An Integrated Fuzzy Topsis Method For Ranking Alternatives And Its Application, Ji-Feng Ding
An Integrated Fuzzy Topsis Method For Ranking Alternatives And Its Application, Ji-Feng Ding
Journal of Marine Science and Technology
The main purpose of this paper is to develop an integrated fuzzy technique for order preference by similarity to ideal solution (TOPSIS) method to improve the quality of decisionmaking for ranking alternatives. The proposed fuzzy TOPSIS method mainly accounts for the classification of criteria, the integrated weights of criteria and sub-criteria, and the performance values of decision matrix. In this model, the criteria are classified into subjective criteria and objective ones. The fuzzy analytic hierarchy process approach and the entropy weighting method are used to solve the subjective weights and objective ones. In addition, the adjusted integration weights are measured …

Most of 2009 was slow for mergers and acquisitions (M&A), due to financial turmoil and economic uncertainty that carried over from late 2008. But the deal market rebounded in the fourth quarter of 2009 and 2010 appears to be much better for M&A than 2009. Yet while the global economy shows signs of recovery, and many buyers and sellers are flush with cash, M&A activity may begin slowly in the United States in 2011 due to uncertainty about the business outlook and potential tax changes. In this article, we briefly review M&A activity in the first half of 2010, and …

(First paragraph) E-business is more than just e-commerce. It is one of the most challenging areas for industry and research communities. E-business has evolved from business-to-business, business-to-customer, customer-to-business, customer-to-customer, and business-to-government systems to the integrated and collaborative business services among various information systems and e-marketplaces. In this evolving process, integrated e-business systems and their related supporting platforms have to be rapidly designed and developed in order to meet different requirements. A variety of e-business engineering paradigms and technologies have been developed to tackle these challenges. There are many research issues needed to be addressed. These issues include heterogeneous services integration, …
