Assessing The Effectiveness Of E-Recruitment Efforts In State Government, Joseph Orenstein
Assessing The Effectiveness Of E-Recruitment Efforts In State Government, Joseph Orenstein
Undergraduate Theses and Capstone Projects
This study provides an evaluative framework for state e-recruitment efforts. Challenged bv the impending retirement of the baby boomer generation, public employers are implementing innovative hiring practices to aid in the recruitment of a new, talented workforce. Web-based recruitment offers an opportunity for state recruiters to reach a broader pool of job seeker talent. An effective framework for assessing the adequacy of state hiring websites would establish a set of criteria to aid in the development and implementation of state e-recruitment efforts. The framework is based on a literature review of relevant recruitment strategies in the public and private sector, …
Daylighting Strategies For U.S. Air Force Office Facilities: Economic Analysis Of Building Energy Performance And Life-Cycle Cost Modeling With Monte Carlo Method, Sang M. Lee
Theses and Dissertations
The U.S. federal government maintains more than 500,000 facilities in the United States and around the world, most of which are heavily dependent on fossil fuels to produce electricity. Within the federal government, the Department of Defense (DOD) spends over $2.5 billion per year on facility energy consumption which makes them the largest single energy consumer in the United States. Therefore, federal energy conservation goals focus on aggressively reducing energy consumption by reducing the energy demand at the facility level within the next 20 years. Daylighting is a passive solar energy strategy at the facility level that leverages load avoidance …

The Indexing Of Scholarly Open Access Business Journals, Katharine Ball
E-JASL 1999-2009 (Volumes 1-10)

In May 2004, the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ) listed 8 business titles. By May 2006, the number had jumped to 26 and as of May 2009, the DOAJ lists 83 business and management titles. An additional 84 economics titles are also available. Department of Information Management and Business Analytics Faculty Scholarship and Creative Works
Supply Chain Management (SCM) has proven to be an effective tool that aids companies in the development of competitive advantages. SCM Systems are relied on to manage warehouses, transportation, trade logistics and various other issues concerning the coordinated movement of products and services from suppliers to customers. Although in today’s fast paced business environment, numerous supply chain solution tools are readily available to companies, choosing the right SCM software is not an easy task. The complexity of SCM systems creates a multifaceted issue when selecting the right software, particularly in light of the speed at which technology evolves. In this …

Chinese Gaap And Ifrs: An Analysis Of The Convergence Process, Songlan Peng, Joyce Van Der Van Der Laan Smith
Chinese Gaap And Ifrs: An Analysis Of The Convergence Process, Songlan Peng, Joyce Van Der Van Der Laan Smith
Accounting Faculty Publications
In this study, we examine the process of convergence through a longitudinal analysis (1992–2006) of the convergence of Chinese GAAP with IFRS from the perspective of process theory. We find that significant steps toward convergence occurred through the issuance of four successive Chinese GAAPs: 1992, 1998, 2001, and 2006. Convergence occurred both through the direct import of standards from IFRS and progressive changes to Chinese GAAP. Direct import was observed for items either reflective of traditional Chinese accounting practice or ones that addressed situations not considered or not relevant under the pre- vious accounting model. Progressive changes to Chinese GAAP …

Strategic M&A’S: Stronger In Tough Times?, Carol M. Sanchez, Stephen R. Goldberg
Peer Reviewed Articles
Global acquisitions were worth $6.5 billion in the first quarter of 2008, were down 44% from the previous quarter, and down 41% from the first quarter of 2007.1 But the value of strategic M&As dropped less, only 33%, while the number of deals rose 8%, and cross-border deals represented 38% of the total value of global M&As. Kroll argues that strategic M&As, while likely to experience some drop in volume in 2008 and until the credit crisis bottoms out, will withstand the pressures of financial markets much better than financial M&As. Strategic M&As are deals conducted by companies that want …

Panel Data Models: An Appraisal Of Lead-Lag Relation In The Kse-30, Muhammad Ayub Siddiqui
Business Review
The lead-lag relation between index futures and the underlying index has been at the core of discussion of the researchers in the developing and the developed world. This study examines the lead-lag relationship between spot and future prices of 21 companies from the KSE-30 Index for the monthly data of the period from October 2004 to February 2008. It applies panel data estimation techniques of common constants, fixed effects and random effects. These estimations are considered to be the most recent and efficient analytical methods in handling econometric data. The data is balanced; therefore, no additional assumption has been employed. …
Investigation Into The Glazing Sector Of The Construction Industry In The Cork Region: To Identify The Main Criteria Used In The Window And Glazing Selection Process, Michael A. Mc Avoy
Investigation Into The Glazing Sector Of The Construction Industry In The Cork Region: To Identify The Main Criteria Used In The Window And Glazing Selection Process, Michael A. Mc Avoy
Theses
The selection of glazing and windows is an important element in the architecture of a building in terms of both aesthetics and practicality. Other related issues include sustainability, and the potential effects of glazing selection on the environment. It is essential that glazing experts contribute to the design process at an early stage in order to maximise the efficiency of the windows while still allowing architects to create their visions and unique buildings. This study focuses on the current systems used in the window selection process for the Cork region, and will propose changes based on the findings of the …

A Comparison Of Two Types Of Rough Sets Induced By Coverings, Ying Sai
Finance Faculty Works
Rough set theory is an important technique in knowledge discovery in databases. In covering-based rough sets, many types of rough set models were established in recent years. In this paper, we compare the covering-based rough sets defined by Zhu with ones defined by Xu and Zhang. We further explore the properties and structures of these types of rough set models. We also consider the reduction of coverings. Finally, the axiomatic systems for the lower and upper approximations defined by Xu and Zhang are constructed.
