La presente investigación tiene por objetivo interpretar a las novelas La Genara de Rosina Conde y La giganta de Patricia Laurent Kullick como relatos explicativos donde tienen lugar una praxis de intelectualidad orgánica, de quehacer anti-hegemónico; feminista, de quehacer anti-opresor; y ch’ixi, de quehacer anti-colonizador. Busco una lectura crítica para identificar claves del posicionamiento de ambas novelas respecto a discursos hegemónicos que producen relaciones sociales de opresión.

El siguiente trabajo analiza las relaciones entre la novela Un mundo para Julius (1970), de Alfredo Bryce Echenique, y la tradición del género conocido como novela de aprendizaje o bildungsroman. Como pretendemos demostrar, el libro del autor peruano sostiene un complejo cuadro de relaciones con tal tradición, de la que Un mundo para Julius aparece como un fiel continuador al mismo tiempo que propone una recreación diferente de las características típicas de ese género. In the face of the social and political crises that were both cause and consequence of the Mexican Revolution and the period in Colombia known as “la Violencia”, two state projects were consolidated and dominated the field of power throughout the 20th century. The Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI) in Mexico and the bipartisan coalition of the National Front in Colombia made use of the notions of revolution and violence, respectively, to legitimize their nation projects. The urban imaginary is that which bases itself in a real physical and concrete space,

but is a construction created through the lense of a city's inhabitants. This thesis follows

narratives that have reconfigured the cities of México City, San Juan and Caracas from the

novels Hotel DF (2010), Simone (2011) and the film Pelo Malo (2013) respectively. These

contemporary Latin American & Caribbean narratives provide insight into sentiments

about one's country. Néstor García Canclini and Henri Lefebvre have argued the city is a

In my dissertation, I focus on the literary production of Latina authors, who live and write in the United States. By using the notion of the art of resistance, I explore the works of Magali Alabau, Hemos llegado a Ilión, Volver and Amor faltal, and Carmen Baullosa, Texas. Both writers clash about the discourses linked to segregation. Pondering on their works, I propose to extend the current idea of the art of resistance, associated with political views, to one that opposes all kinds of segregation. In the decade following the Ecuadorian financial crisis of 1988, Spain took in approximately half a million Ecuadorian immigrants. This study analyzes the social consequences of this migratory flow from a very particular point of view: the perspective offered by the mass media and literary works.

Using several reports as well as different newspaper articles and literary works, this project shows how this group has been stigmatized during their stay in the receiving country. En esta tesis propongo abordar algunas crónicas del escritor modernista Manuel Gutiérrez Nájera (1859-1895) como un espacio discursivo altamente ideologizado en el que se articulan literatura y política. Quiero demostrar que la labor periodística de Gutiérrez Nájera, ejemplificada en la crónica modernista, está ligada aún a la función política romántica previa a la autonomización de las letras, en la que el escritor pone su pluma al servicio de la formación de ciudadanos.
