This paper analyzes the novel El último sueño (López 2018) and concludes that it is an optimal example of a new interpretation of Posthumanism whereon the portrayed modern subjects seek to retrieve the Humanist logic lacking in our apocalyptic times, giving birth in the process to a new fictional representation of Posthumanism in the times of the Anthropocene.

En Postmodernist Fiction Brian McHale defendía un acercamiento entre la ciencia ficción y la narrativa posmoderna. Mientras que la novela posmoderna toma topos de la ciencia ficción, la ciencia ficción usa herramientas narrativas de la posmodernidad. Tanto Slaughterhouse-Five, de Kurt Vonnegut, como Dying Inside, de Robert Silverberg, reflejan esa convergencia. Además, la imbricación también aparece en las letras españolas, como demuestran los análisis de El mundo en la era de Varick , de Andrés Ibáñez, y de Lágrimas de luz, de Rafael Marín.

The Amazon In Brazilian Speculative Fiction: Utopia And Trauma, M. Elizabeth Ginway

There are two key moments when the Amazon is used as the setting for Brazilian science fiction, both during periods of dictatorship in the twentieth century. The first takes place during the authoritarian government of Getúlio Vargas (1930-1945), the second after the decades-long push for modernization and technological change imposed by the military government from 1964 to 1985. My study shows that, for writers of the first half of the twentieth century, the Amazon is a place of adventure, a setting for stories whose imaginative events ignore the region’s anthropology, history and indigenous cultures.
