My central focus is Allende's most recent …

This study is concerned with the works of the Peruvian writer Ciro Alegria, who includes in his novels many examples …

The Orderly Chaos Of Camilo José́ Cela, Christian William Hearon Jul 1972

The Orderly Chaos Of Camilo José́ Cela, Christian William Hearon

Master's Theses

Camilo José Cela, a philosopher and a consummate artist, has produced a series of works which individually and as a group, are a careful combination of idea and form. One work cannot adequately be understood unless it is also seen in context with Cela's other works. Each of the novels, short stories, essays and travel books, is united to the others by Cela' s overall existential philosophical outlook, and each rests on and at the same time illuminates the others.

Alejo Carpentier : CivilizacióN Y Barbarie, MaríA Luisa P. ValdéS

Master's Theses

The Artistic Deformation Of Reality : An Ideological Portrait Of Tyranny In Tirano Banderas And El Señ̃Or Presidente, Roebrta Wynne Cohen

Master's Theses

Tyrants speak with many voices, bold many poses, and cast many shadows, but inevitably all wear the same face--the tragic face of tyranny itself. Many artists have painted the portrait; few have captured the essence of its tragedy. Valle Inclan and Asturias, each in his own way, depict the world of tyranny as grotesque and absurd in order to show the tragic condition of man. It is my intent to describe and analyze this grotesque world of tyranny, as portrayed in Tirana Banderas and Senor Preeidente; to compare the techniques used by each writer to create this world; to interpret …
