Although our spring musical program for 2006 is ostensibly focused on entertainment, light fun, and Americana, it is no coincidence that the Buffalo Gay Men's Chorus has chosen songs which speak seriously of liberation -- not only of gay and lesbian people, but also the liberation of Africans and AfricanAmericans, and liberation from the restrictive historical trappings of certain music itself.

"In the bleak mid winter," the poet tells us, "frosty wind made moan. "For those who have grown up in Buffalo and Western New York, window scrapers, snow plows, anti-freeze, insulated doors, down jackets, ear muffs, and gloves have become a way of life. We may pride ourselves on having "three and a half seasons," but it is the "Buffalo winter" that has given the city its notoriety.
