This essay discusses the concept of "poesía mulata" (mulatto poetry) in the works of two Hispanic Caribbean authors of the 20th century: the Cuban anthropologist Fernando Ortiz (1881-1969) and the Dominican poet Tomás Hernández Franco (1904-1952).
