This collection consists of a manuscript clipped in two parts: “From the Past” by Hugo Herrenkohl and a supplementary manuscript. The manuscripts cover Herrenkohl’s recollections of life in rural Cabell County in the early twentieth century, including genealogical material about the Herrenkohl and Blake families. Information about burial places is included.

The Ensign Family Papers (1804-1945) consist mostly of letters generated by Eli (1860's-1890's) or letters to him. The majority of letters written by Eli are to his wife (1870-1899) when he is on various trips or when she is visiting family in Connecticut.

Letters to Ely are mostly from his side of the family such as brothers Sidney (1859-1874) and Charles (1862-1871) or Ely’s grandmother Clarinda(?) Prentice (1857-1868). Business correspondence (1867-1902) is heaviest during the 1870's. One common writer of business correspondence to Ely was W.A. Burke (1870).

This collection consists of two series, with Series I containing material related to genealogy and Series II containing professional papers relevant to Richard Marks’ career at the NSA and CIA. The bulk of the collection consists of Mr. Marks' genealogical research on his family, including publications, family trees, forms, and other research tools. Professional papers include a Turkish-American Association exhibit of stamps between 1961-1965, as well as clippings, white papers, pamphlets, and booklets related to foreign policy and intelligence issues primarily about the U.S.S.R., but also including major powers in Europe, the Middle East, and Asia.

The collection is divided into two series: Series I: Special Commission on Boundaries, Tacna-Arica Arbitration Papers and Series II: Morrow Family Personal Papers.

The first series pertains the 1922 request by Chile and Peru for the United States to arbitrate their land dispute over the provinces of Tacna, Arica, and Tarata. Jay Johnson Morrow was the chairman of the special commission arbitrating the boundary dispute between Chile and Peru from 1925 to 1929. Collection materials include historic maps and treaties, copies of geological surveys, field reports, annexation documents, and reports of arbitration meetings. Doris Copley Miller was a Huntington, West Virginia poet, newspaperwoman, and local historian. Papers include her work in draft and printed form and correspondence, notably the Jesse Stuart letters. It also contains poetry submissions from other friends and the public as well as working files from her years as religion, education and poetry editor at the Huntington Publishing Company. In addition to her newspaper columns, she also conducted genealogical research.

The collection contains of two manuscripts bound together, “George Webb Family Deeds Recorded in States of North Carolina, Virginia, and West Virginia” and “Family Bible of Benjamin Franklin Swann, Louisa Jane Hatfield Swann”. These manuscripts were copied by Marion S. McCullough and Helen B. Webb, both members of the Westmoreland Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution. They former manuscript contains transcriptions of six deed records while the latter contains four pages of birth, marriage, death, and other family bible records. An index is included.
