Kickin' Sand And Tellin' Lies, Jackson B. Miller, Christopher Forrer
Kickin' Sand and Tellin' Lies: The Play
This document is the script of the two-act play, Kickin’ Sand and Tellin’ Lies, by Jackson B. Miller and Christopher Forrer. The Linfield College Theatre Program presented the world premieres of the play in November 2012 in McMinnville, Oregon and in Pacific City, Oregon. The play was created as part of the Launching through the Surf: The Dory Fleet of Pacific City project, which focuses on the historical and contemporary role of dory fishers and dories in the life of the coastal village of Pacific City, Oregon. Inspired by stories from the project, Kickin’ Sand and Tellin’ Lies is a …

Women in Maine's Paper Industry 1880-2006
With support from a Women In Curriculum research grant, Pauleena MacDougall, Associate Director of the Maine Folklife Center assisted by Amy Stevens, graduate student in history, conducted a series of oral histories with women who work or used to work in the pulp and paper industry. The project began May 1, 2006 and was completed September 30, 2006. They asked questions about clothing women wore to work, stories they may have about the mill and relations between workers. Their primary focus was on the expressive culture of the women as we attempt to understand female culture in an industrial setting.

The Presidency Of Charles E. Glassick, 1977-1989: An Appraisal, Michael J. Birkner
Gettysburg College Faculty Books
On August 1, 1977 Charles Glassick assumed his duties as president of Gettysburg College. With the 25th anniversary of that event approaching, it seemed appropriate to take stock of Glassick's accomplishments. This was an eventful presidency for Gettysburg, as the college began to identify itself less as a worthy, but modest, Lutheran institution of higher learning than as a national liberal arts college. The process of embracing a new identity was not always smooth, but under Glassick's leadership the college prospered. Gettysburg in 1989 remained committed as always to the liberal arts mission it had long espoused, but it did …

Kennebec Yesterdays, Ernest Cummings Marriner
Kennebec Yesterdays, Ernest Cummings Marriner
Colby Books
A “social history of the Pine Tree State…especially…the Kennebec Valley” inspired by Marriner’s long-running Sunday evening radio program “Little Talks on Common Things,” broadcast by Waterville’s WTVL beginning in 1948.
From the foreword:
To my amazement I found hundreds of people interested in the social history of the Pine Tree State. Material has always poured in faster than I could use it. Out of trunks and boxes stored away in attics, came letters and diaries, account books and legal documents. Scrap books prepared by patient hands many decades ago were opened for my inspection. Yellowed newspapers, tied in neat bundles …
