This document is the script of the two-act play, Kickin’ Sand and Tellin’ Lies, by Jackson B. Miller and Christopher Forrer. The Linfield College Theatre Program presented the world premieres of the play in November 2012 in McMinnville, Oregon and in Pacific City, Oregon. The play was created as part of the Launching through the Surf: The Dory Fleet of Pacific City project, which focuses on the historical and contemporary role of dory fishers and dories in the life of the coastal village of Pacific City, Oregon. Women in Maine's Paper Industry 1880-2006

With support from a Women In Curriculum research grant, Pauleena MacDougall, Associate Director of the Maine Folklife Center assisted by Amy Stevens, graduate student in history, conducted a series of oral histories with women who work or used to work in the pulp and paper industry. The project began May 1, 2006 and was completed September 30, 2006. They asked questions about clothing women wore to work, stories they may have about the mill and relations between workers. Their primary focus was on the expressive culture of the women as we attempt to understand female culture in an industrial setting.

On August 1, 1977 Charles Glassick assumed his duties as president of Gettysburg College. With the 25th anniversary of that event approaching, it seemed appropriate to take stock of Glassick's accomplishments. This was an eventful presidency for Gettysburg, as the college began to identify itself less as a worthy, but modest, Lutheran institution of higher learning than as a national liberal arts college. The process of embracing a new identity was not always smooth, but under Glassick's leadership the college prospered.
