The 1969 meeting of the Kings Mountain Baptist Association met at Bethlehem Baptist Church in Kings Mountain, NC and Patterson Springs Baptist Church in Grover, NC. The Superindentent of Missions reflected on the changes in his ten years of service: Cleveland County's transition from agricultural to industrial, Vietnam War, affluence affecting attitude. He also gave hope for the coming decade. A proposal was made by the Baptist Children's Homes of North Carolina, Inc. to add a home near Waynesville called the Broyhill Home. Gardner-Webb College reported its first junior class in the history of the college.
