For many years lecturers and art historians have been aware of the importance of the Armory Show (The international Exhibition of Modern Art) held in New York in 1913. This awareness has not been sufficient to stimulate the presentation of the entire history of the Armory show. Although most lecturers and art historians dismiss the exhibit by saying that it was important, there are a few who have given as much as ten pages to a discussion of the show.

It was the ambition of the author of this thesis to paint a mural. As a result of the cooperation of the College of Fine Arts and Pharmacy, it was arranged that as a part of this thesis a mural be executed in the new Pharmacy Building on the campus of the University of New Mexico. Because of this, the thesis has attained a far greater aspect of reality than it would have received had the author confined himself solely to a theoretical study of mural painting.
