The purpose of this study was to identify the evolution of digital preservation, scholarly publication, and communication by partaking in daily tasks at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln's Walt Whitman Archive (www.whitmanarchive.org), a prominent digital humanities project. The study allowed for the examination of general digital literary archives, specifically the impact of digital archives on literary research, how digital literary archives are influenced by existing data preservation and access models, and how publication and preservation relate to one another.
