This thesis combines research writing with personal narrative to document and analyze the process of a service learner. I often engage in a literary analysis of my own narrative work to elicit the steps in the evolution of service learning within an individual. As a student of an institution that strives to be the national model of an engaged university, I hope that my work will be of pedagogical use as institutions further develop service learning programs.
