The marriage of archaeological referencing and picture Bibles in the nineteenth century resulted in an astonishing variety of guises worn by the court of Ahasuerus in Esther. Following the exhibition of Neo-Assyrian sculpture in the British Museum and the wide circulation of such images in various John Murray publications, British illustrators like Henry Anelay defaulted to Assyrian models for kings and rulers in the Old Testament, including the principal actors in Esther, even though authentic Achaemenid Persian art had been available for illustrative pastiche for decades. Learn the Terms is a graphic art/academic library collaborative project in which students create touchpoints that illustrate the meanings of information literacy terms used in libraries, library instruction, and college course and course materials. Designed by students in a senior-level graphic design course, the campaign began as the result of a large-scale assessment of students’ understanding of library research terminology that showed a large percentage of university students don’t understand common research and information terms used by professors and librarians.

I designed this poster for the annual Chalk the Block event which took place October 12–14, 2018 in downtown El Paso. For the art vendors component of the event, I organized a group of 10 students from my 'Graphic Design 4: Typography' class at The University of Texas at El Paso. Their posters were judged and selected to be on sale in a downtown outdoor booth for the weekend event. All proceeds from the sale of the posters went directly to the students.
