Despite growing design demand, there has been little research on the design of shading devices for the outdoor environment. Heat-related illnesses are becoming a more pressing issue as temperatures rise due to climate change. Seeking shade is one effective way for humans to protect themselves. Blocking sun radiation is the main goal of shading. One of the most effective cooling strategies, found in nature, is the tree fractal strategy used to optimize shading.
