A flyer for the Four Photographers exhibit that was featured at Wright State University Art Gallery from October 9th through the 20th, 1978. There was an informal reception held that Friday, October 13th, at 4pm in regards to the presentation of the exhibit. It was a part of the Elyn Zimmerman Workshop.

Throughout the year of 1978 through 1979, came the collaborative project of four universities with 4 artists. The artists included in these workshop/exhibits were: Julia Heyward, John Mason, Mary Miss, and Elyn Zimmerman. This exhibit book documents the 16 projects undertaken by these selected artists. Funded partially by the National Endowment for the Arts the exhibits acted much like workshops allowing a presence of the artistic students to get involved and listen to the artists. The gallery guide discusses the works that comprised the 1977-1978 Alternative Space Residency Program which was sponsored by the Dayton City Beautiful Council and Wright State University. This particular guide featured the work of artists Alice Aycock, Jody Pinto, George Trakas, Siah Armajani, and Charles Simonds. Quintessence number one showcases the first year of a six year long project.

During the spring and summer of 1975 Wright State University organized a cooperative workshop/exhibitions program with three other institutions and, in 1976, received the support of the National Endowment for the Arts. This publication represents the second such program in what is hoped will be a continuing series.

The program consisted of sending four prominent contemporary artists to each of four schools during the 1977-78 academic year.
