In this art lesson for grades 6-12, students will consider how color reads differently depending on chromatic surroundings and experiment with color scheme arrangements to create their own linear collage with adhesive-backed papers. This lesson is based on the exhibition NIRVANA, Polly Apfelbaum displayed at the Zuckerman in the fall of 2023.

This open access digital exhibition catalog is part of the Kansas State University (K-State) Gordon Parks Project, initiated by the Marianna Kistler Beach Museum of Art and K-State English. It presents new research about Parks’s activities in Kansas based on materials found in participating Kansas institutions, including 128 curated photographs donated by Gordon Parks to K-State. The contributions in this volume illuminate Parks’s relationship to his home state of Kansas as a source of reference and inspiration. They debunk the myth that Kansas was merely the place where Gordon Parks was born before moving on to greatness elsewhere.

This course will explore creativity both as a general process of engagement with the world around us and as an introduction to creative cultural expression in the Arts. This book documents the paintings and drawings executed by Louis Agassiz Fuertes during the Field Museum of Natural History’s seven-month expedition to Ethiopia (Abyssinia) in 1926–27. During that time Fuertes completed 70 field watercolors that illustrate 55 species of birds and four species of mammals. He also executed 34 pencil drawings, which illustrate 13 species of mammals and 11 species of birds, plus numerous miscellaneous sketches and small watercolors. This exhibition by renowned American artist William Clutz celebrates his recent gift of artworks to Gettysburg College and is organized in partnership with the Washington County Museum of Fine Arts (WCMFA) in Hagerstown, Maryland.

The exhibition features twenty-four pastels, drawings and large-scale paintings from the collections at the WCMFA, Mercersburg Academy, and Gettysburg College. Clutz arrived in New York in the 1950s as a peripatetic flâneur, walking through the streets of his Lower East Side neighborhood, astutely observing his fellow passers-by, and depicting them with a concerted awareness of the concentrated colors and painterly directness of the contemporary Abstract Expressionists.

The Sheridan Notebook is an integral component to a series of studies that seek to better understand (1) the impact of adult colouring on creativity and mindfulness, and (2) the educational potential of adult colouring. A growing volume of research suggests there is a noteworthy connection between mindfulness and creativity: mindful individuals through presence, openness, acceptance, and self-inquiry are able to adopt many perspectives and pursue multiple solutions when solving problems—characteristics held by highly creative and innovative individuals.
