This collection includes records from Gettysburg College’s application process to the NEA, the selection process of the artist, images from the installation process of Sentinel, correspondence and an interview with Martin Puryear, newspaper cutouts of Sentinel’s reception. As well as records from Molly Hutton’s efforts to seek awareness and funding for the preservation and conservation of Sentinel in the early 2000s. Records from the application for an assessment award under Save Outdoor Sculpture! (SOS!), and a manuscript for a story on Sentinel to be featured in the GETTYSBURG alumni magazine are also included.

This collection contains three items: the “die trial” of a seal made by Rudolph Laubenheimer for the 1893 Columbian Exposition (World’s Fair) in Chicago; Ernst Laubenheimer’s handwritten diary of an 1896 trip to Europe; and a carte de visite (photograph) of Ernst created at roughly the same time.

On June 20, 1896, Ernst and his father sailed from New York to Hamburg, Germany, on the S.S. Palatia. They traveled south through Germany, Switzerland, and Italy, then back to Germany, returning to New York on October 16.

The diary is a detailed record of prices, distances, and other logistics. It …

The collection consists primarily of Dance Cards from Gettysburg College from 1922-1927. The dance cards included largely feature events hosted by either the Beta Lambda (Delta Gamma) Sorority or Delta Kappa Sigma Fraternity. However other events include the Sophomore Banquet, Junior Prom, Leap Year Dance, Co-Ed Dance, and Albright College’s Junior Prom. In addition to the 27 dance cards, the collection includes an event program and table place cards with Ruth’s name.
