Finding aid only for Folklife Archive Project 743. This collection contains information relating to the various artists involved with the Kentucky Folklife Program. Many of the artists included in this collection participated in programs offered at, but not limited to, the Kentucky Folklife Festival, Made to be Played Exhibit, apprenticeship programs, and survey or fieldwork that was conducted by the Kentucky Folklife Program. Artists included musicians (gospel, blues, bluegrass, banjo, thumbpicking guitarists, and singing) to traditional artists (painting, quilting, storytelling, basketmaking, and instrument making). Materials relating to design of the Kentucky Bicentennial Star Quilt by Edna Ponder, Danville, Kentucky. Includes typescript history, quilt pattern, unused pieces and cardboard template, newspaper articles, and photographs. Also includes a coloring book related to Danville history, illustrated by Ponder. The original quilt is in the Kentucky Museum collection at Western Kentucky University.
