Exhibition Notes, Number 19, Summer 2002. Beginning in late February and continuing throughout the remainder of the semester, Wendy Ewald visited Michelle Silvia’s classroom of special–education students at the Carl G. Lauro Memorial Elementary School in Providence. The photographs and videos of the children learning to read and the patterns used in classroom lessons are the result of a three-way collaboration— teacher, students, and artist. The following questions were posed to Wendy Ewald and Michelle Silvia by David Henry, Head of Education at The RISD Museum.

Exhibition Notes, Number 16, Winter 2001. During the fall of 2001, McGee moved to Providence from his home in Houston, Texas, to be the Art ConText artist in residence. Given the challenge of introducing people at the Olneyville Branch of the Providence Public Library to The RISD Museum, McGee did what he does best: he painted. The following interview with David Henry, Head of Education at The RISD Museum, was conducted a month before the paintings were to be hung.

Peter Dee - Strategic Design & Marketing Consultant, was responsible for the design and development of the brand identity for the Enterprise Ireland Student Creativity Day which was used on business cards, letterhead, appliction forms, information literature, large format posters, t-shirts and website. Competing in multi-disciplinary teams, students provided an innovative & creative solution to an exacting design brief. The design brief reflected the following themes: interface, learning, science, media, communications and fashion. The design jury included representatives of Irish business and IDI members.

This study focuses on using aesthetics in the art education curriculum. It also suggests a variety of approaches through which art educators may implement aesthetics in the classroom. Discussions of aesthetics were found in writings of Plato and Aristotle and continue to this day. Philosophers have defined aesthetics as a theory of the beautiful. Educators took this idea a step further in developing curricula and methods of educating that include aesthetics.
