IMPACT16 is an encounter with HOOD, RYBN.ORG und FORMATIONS, three expert collectives whose diversified forms of cooperation and flexible working practices transcend disciplinary boundaries.
How and where do alternative realities come about both in and between different fields of knowledge? How can we productively uncover contradictory ›rift zones‹ in today’s world? What kind of frameworks for action can we cultivate?
Informed by multiple perspectives and practices in the arts, politics, technology, sociology, economics and science, the contributing collectives’ inquiries and strategies circumvent disciplinary limits and constraints and open up new spaces for thought and action.
The transdisciplinary symposium offers 30 …

James Joyce Run: Good Puzzle Would Be Cross Dublin Without Passing A Pub, Barry Sheehan
Academic Articles
I write a blog www.jj21k.com which looks at the works of James Joyce, the environment which he wrote about and changes that have taken place since he wrote about them. The blogposts are predominantly about Dublin. As part of discovering Dublin by reading and Running I have written several longer pieces.
In Ulysses Leopold Bloom thinks Good puzzle would be cross Dublin without passing a pub. This piece creates a running narrative that does just that, linking Cabra where the Joyce family lived on the north side of Dublin, with Shelbourne Road on the south side and where James Joyce …
Sonic Activation: A Multimedia Performance-Installation, Alex Joseph Lough
Sonic Activation: A Multimedia Performance-Installation, Alex Joseph Lough
FIU Electronic Theses and Dissertations
Sonic Activation is a multimedia performance-installation featuring sound sculptures, video projections, and performance with live electronics for solo and mixed ensembles. The work aims to unpack the nature in which we hear and interact with sound, space, and gesture. It is a project that recontextualizes the typical practice of performance and installation modes of music and art. The event uses 12 loudspeakers spaced around a gallery to create a densely layered sonic atmosphere that gently fluctuates and slowly evolves. Throughout the event, the audience is encouraged to freely navigate the gallery and experience the subtle changes in sound as they …

Expressive Cartography, Boundary Objects, And The Aesthetics Of Public Visualization, Patricio Davila, Dave Colangelo, Robert Tu
School of Film Faculty Publications and Presentations
Aesthetic visualization projects that incorporate users, community stakeholders, multiple modalities and technologies necessarily emphasize the way that an artistic visualization can be both an artifact and a process — a conceptualization of aesthetic visualization that is useful for thinking about visualization in general. In this paper, the authors propose the concept of the visualization as boundary object, a move away from the indexical claims of visualization and instead towards an acknowledgement of the entangled nature of social, political, economic, cultural, technological and environmental actants. Through a description of the In The Air, Tonight public visualization project, the authors suggest that …

CRHR: Archaeology
Between February 8-11, 2016, selected artifacts from the Blackwater Draw National Historic Landmark (LA3324) were scanned in advance of a grant proposal to digitally aggregate the Clovis-era artifacts from the Clovis type site.
