Building on common definitions of terms such as machine, human, and code, this paper presents a strategy for an art practice that engages with data that has been processed and the processor as actor or character. Material is presented in such a way that rules, guidelines, logic, code, coherence may be viewed as tools to be employed for the use of obtaining and retaining power and control. Sonder is an exploration of the relationship between digital media and graphic design through the creation of print and digital publications. At it’s very foundation, Sonder is a travel magazine with both a physical print publication and a digital publication designed for a tablet. It includes photography, articles, poetry, and travel tips. The print and the digital versions contain the same content, but explore different methods of presentation.

The Tygr presentation will focus on the collaboration between the art and English departments throughout the magazine's existence. We will present the history of the Tygr, with examples of past magazines, and talk about their format, their composition, and their shortcomings. We will examine how the Tygr has changed and grown into this new digital age and what goals we have for the future of the Tygr. We will also discuss how the Tygr is made now, closely examining the way these two departments work together to produce a product. Further time in the presentation will be dedicated to the …
