An 1842 reprint containing two reports detailing the events surrounding the 1834 mob destruction of the Ursuline Convent in Charlestown, MA. The first report discusses the public responsibility and duty of the State to protect its citizens and their property, regardless of social or religious affiliation, from unjust actions. The second report, produced by a select committee of the Massachusetts House of Representatives, discusses the merits of a petition for the Commonwealth to indemnify the Sisters of the Ursuline Order for their loss.
