Slavery And Confederate Military Strategy And Policy, 1860–1865, David M. Campmier
Dissertations, Theses, and Capstone Projects
This thesis places slavery at the center of all aspects of the Confederate war effort; from the beginning of the war until its end, the Rebel leadership in Richmond, in the army, and in the states prioritized protecting slavery.
Historians of the Civil War and the Confederacy agree that the war began when southern states declared secession to preserve the institution of slavery. When examining the war, scholars tend to not analyze slavery and its impact on Confederate military strategy, logistics, conscription, and military policy. This lack of study stands in stark contrast to how historians of the Union war …

In the 21st century, our ability to quickly and decisively deliver combat forces and equipment is of the utmost importance in achieving our national security objectives. The swiftness and flexibility of the US Air Force’s mobility airlift fleet is the key to executing a rapid global mobility strategy. The operational effectiveness and efficiency of military air transportation relies on the expertise and intuition of Air Mobility Command’s (AMC) mobility planners. By Sea And Air: Winston Churchill's Views On The Navy And Air Force During The Second World War, Michael Toth
Undergraduate Honors Thesis Projects
For the majority of the Second World War Churchill served as the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, a position that he used to influence imperial military strategy. In this he had to engage with a number of new methods and means of making war, such as the airplane, which had their origin in the First World War, but which now had reached maturity. Thus Churchill’s views on the various military branches were important, as he was engaging with a new system of warfare. This thesis examines Winston Churchill’s views of the Royal Navy and Royal Air Force during the …
Portrait: Les Nombreuses Facettes De Toussaint Louverture, Jean Metellus
Portrait: Les Nombreuses Facettes De Toussaint Louverture, Jean Metellus
Présence Francophone: Revue internationale de langue et de littérature
Toussaint Louverture's groundbreaking revolutionary war against slavery in the French colony of Saint-Domingue has earned him a well-deserved place in the history of anti-colonial movements. Despite his arrest and subsequent deportation to France, he is remembered as one of the founders of the first Haitian nation. Metellus goes beyond this image of the Haitian leader and captures him in all his complexity; his limits as a human being and as a leader. However, Metellus ultimately wants us to remember Toussaint Louverture as one of the founders of the anticolonial movement.
San Martín: One Hundred Years Of Historiography, Katharine Ferris Nutt
San Martín: One Hundred Years Of Historiography, Katharine Ferris Nutt
Fort Hays Studies Series
It is the opinion of this writer that the answer to the riddle of San Martín may better be sought in his relations with Lord Cochrane than in those with Simon Bolívar and the Quayaquil controversy, an avenue which historians have for years followed without arriving at any satisfactory conclusion. It is this writer's purpose to show that the misunderstandings regarding San Martín's character and his place in history stem from a very logical and comprehensible situation.
