Providing Students With Multimodal Feedback Experiences, Dan Martin Dec 2020

Providing Students With Multimodal Feedback Experiences, Dan Martin

Journal of Curriculum, Teaching, Learning and Leadership in Education

In higher education, feedback is an effective but underappreciated teaching tool that expands students’ opportunities for learning. Students need more formative feedback that can lead to dialogic experiences, and they need more feedback experiences in different mediums and modes. Providing students with multimodal feedback that is formative may lead to more dialogic experiences for students and improve their learning. Multimodal feedback experiences benefit all students, including those from diverse and disabled communities. This paper examines some of the advantages and limitations of written, audio, and video feedback and argues that feedback that is primarily formative and delivered using multiple modes …

We’Re All On This Spaceship Earth, Nancy Si Dec 2020

We’Re All On This Spaceship Earth, Nancy Si

HCA Healthcare Journal of Medicine

The photo features the geodesic sphere at Epcot, Disney World in Orlando, FL. Inside the dome, there was an iconic ride called “Spaceship Earth”, which has since been shut down for refurbishment. This photo was taken November 2019, approximately 6 months before it was shut down. Much like how the ride emphasized the progress that human civilization has made in the last several hundred years and hopes to make in years to come, the current pandemic has shown us how far we have come in the medicine and other STEM fields. We hope only to do better and be better …

Still Learning: Covid Through The Eyes Of A Medical Student, Alexis Strahan

HCA Healthcare Journal of Medicine

As a first-year medical student when the COVID-19 pandemic found a foothold, I felt an overwhelming amount of emotions that accompanied the pandemic’s spread. Fear, although a reasonable choice, was not the first emotion that I experienced. In fact, it was a general feeling of paralysis. I had not six months prior taken an oath to commit my career and life to the service of the public’s health care needs, yet I could provide little more than the textbook knowledge of biochemistry or genetics from my first semester of learning. My hands felt unarmed and unskilled for the fight. What …

Narrative Justice: Somebody Delivers The Answers That Police Will Not, Neroli Price Dec 2020

Narrative Justice: Somebody Delivers The Answers That Police Will Not, Neroli Price

RadioDoc Review

By investigating Courtney Copeland’s 2016 murder, the podcast series Somebody (2020) does the work that should be done by police. Narrated by Courtney’s mom, Shapearl Wells, the series not only decentres the official police narrative, but also opens up alternative paths towards seeking justice. Situated within the Black Lives Matter movement, calls to defund the police and questions about the usefulness of “objectivity” in journalism, Somebody attempts to put systemic violence on trial and hold those in power to account. Challenging extractive forms of journalism, Somebody moves towards a model of shared authority between producers and their sources. This review …

Recovering Untold Stories: Everyday Lives Of Women In Republican Istanbul, 1930-1960, Zehra Betul Atasoy

Dissertations

This research explores the everyday lives of urban women from various social strata in Istanbul between 1930 and 1960. It designates the implications of the Republican reforms in urban spaces and concentrates on untold stories of women who belonged to varying social settings and professions. The everyday life of the city became more complex with the increase in participation of women during these decades. This research examines the myriad ways in which women asserted themselves in the urban fabric, following three threads. First, women's leisure and economic activities in the newly built public squares are investigated. Then, industrial workers and …

Model Minorities: Asian Americans And The White-Black Racial Paradigm, Jason Tom

Theses and Dissertations

This paper examines the racial wedge driven by Whites between Blacks and Asian Americans during the Cold War on to the present. Model minorities is a term coined by whites in the 1960s to suppress Civil Rights protests and Black demands. By elevating a minority group through success stories, whites constructed a means to suppress Black people’s organizing for change against systemic racism and oppression.

Sonatina For Cello And Piano By Zoltan Kodaly In The Light Of Stile Evolution, Galiaskar Bigashev

Eurasian music science journal

The creative heritage of Zoltan Kodaly, an outstanding Hungarian composer and folklorist of the twentieth century, attracts attention with its deeply original national character, classical style and mastery of musical forms. However, often in the sphere of interests of musicologists, the analysis of his innovative musical and pedagogical system, symphonic and vocal music, prevails. Considering in this article one of the little-studied rarely performed Kodaly’s works - Sonatina for cello and piano-this paper fill the gap. Sonatina analyzed in a complex way: from the point of view of its formal structure, expressive features, style and musical language as such. The …

That means, A1 exercises can be conducted at the beginners level but also at all other higher levels, but B2 exercises should not be imposed upon beginners or …

Forming A Collective Brand: Women’S Community Small Medium Enterprises And Intellectual Property Rights, Tuti Widiastuti, Nurul Asiah, Wahyudi David

ASEAN Journal of Community Engagement

Women, as part of a community, have a limited role in developing themselves and getting various opportunities in the professional domain. Some women move to a community to conduct productive activities, such as the Kota Pelangi Community in the Pancoran subdistrict of South Jakarta. They consist of homemakers who are still productive and have started various small, processed food businesses. However, their efforts are constrained by the quality of processed food products and they have not been able to compete with the market. Branding or updating a brand can be a long process, but it requires considerable input and creativity. …
